My cats do this all the time. I cant go for a walk without a herd of cats! LOL! And, my cats come better when I call than my dogs do. Hows that for a twist! You're a great cat owner, you have nothing to worry about! Your kitties love you, and especially since your daughter is now going to school, likely they sense that you need extra love.

Tucker (our 3rd cat) follows us everywhere ... accross the street, down the block, etc. And Paddy (the oldest and a female) really acts more like a herding dog than a cat as she follows my husband and I everywhere (even into the bathroom) She gets upset if we are both home and we aren't together. Our other cat is quite aloof and only wants affection when she wants it. I have had cat's for over 40 years. I have always had one that is more dog-like. On the whole I fand them enchanting and life wouldn't be complete without a feline companion.

My neighbours cats follow her around when she is outside too....they also do it wtih her kids and will follow them up the street to the park and hang out there while the kids play then follow them home. They will even come when she calls them in at night. It is pretty neat since we usually think of dogs like that...but I guess cats can be that way too.

One of my cats who passed away did that all the time to the point that he would meow and sit by the door, waiting for me to come home and greet me with a rub on the leg, a few meows or a lap visit. It's a normal thing in some aspects especially if your cat tends to be a lap lover and a ham like mine was. :O)

My neighbors cats follow her everywhere...she even walks them on a leash, all together . I don't think this is the norm....I was at the park the other day and someone had their cat in a basket on their bike....these are not the norms for cats....you got lucky....enjoy....

Yes, even though my cats are indoor cats, they follow me all over the apartment. The moment I get up from sitting, they start following me, even to the loo.

Mine does the same thing, she follows me all around the garden, out to the mail box, ..everywhere. She loves to know what is going on. This is normal, they are very curious animals.

So smart and adaptable those kitties!
They know you are a dog person and afford you a certain comfort level by acting doglike. Or it's just kismet!
You must be good and deserving person for them to do this for you!
