it shouldn't hurt, use pads, maybe try tampons again later.

I went through the same problem as you are when I first started. I never did get it in either, it hurt like HELL. I think the only reason I wanted to use a tampon in the first place was because some of the girls at school did and it was like the mature thing to do.
So I didn't use tampons till I was 20 years old. I think when your young like you probably are, you should stick to pads. Wait till you're more mature, I personally, think that tampons should wait until after 18 or after you have lost your virginity. YOU might break your Hymen if you keep trying and that is painful. So stop and just use a pad.

Are you nervous while attempting to use tampons? Because if you get nervous your muscles tighten which could cause it to hurt. Just relax and keep trying. Pads are awful and I would never use one again if I didn't have to. I had a hard time when I first tried tampons, but just calm down and you should be fine. If you keep having problems, you may want to see a doctor to make sure there's not something else causing the pain.

Don't listen to any one with a stupid answer, I am way older than you and I have never been able to use tampons for that reason. I am not sure if some of us are more sensitive than others but I assure you that you are not doing anything wrong. Good Luck.. using pads isn't the end of the world, especially now.. you should have seen them 20 years ago.

If you're still a virgin don't use tampons because you're going to hurt yourself and lose your virginity to TAMPAX. Use pads until you're not a virgin anymore. It shouldn't hurt to use a tampon, it should just slide right in with a slight push. If you are not a virgin and it hurts it's because your flow is too light and there is nothing there to moisten the tampon as it's going in. Wait till your flwo is heavier and then try it again. Good luck!

I know this sounds silly but have you ever read the little packet that comes in the tampon box? It might actually help. Make sure you are comfortable and relaxed, don't tense up.

If you are comfortable enough, really try talking to your mom...or another older adult female you trust. If you aren't comfortable to have her in the bathroom with you, have her stand outside and talk you through it.

It's okay that you go a few months without using them, don't worry. But don't be afraid of them forever, they really shouldn't hurt so there must be something you are doing wrong... really, read the directions, ask for help.

Um... if you are comfortable with pads try them for now. Also you may want to wait another month or two to start (at least thats what ive read) You may need a bigger size/smaller size depending on your flow. You might also try to put one foot on the toilet seat (when the lid is closed) so it goes in easier. You might also want to read the diagram that normally comes in the box. Hope this helps and also talk to your mom or doctor (you might have something called Toxic Shock Syndrome or TSS)

Good Luck!!!

the first time I used tampons I felt it was the solution to all the problems. I dislike pads soooo much. I think if it hurts you are doing it wrong, read the instructions well, sit and stand up and dont force it in, when you are in the right position it will go in.
And like somebody said here, PLAYTEX way better.

No promotion intended :=$

It will probably hurt the first few times! You get used to it after a while! Tampons are a LOT better than pads.

You can get a lubricant to coat the tip to make insertion easier. Check at the drugstore or grocery in the female section for a light lubricant -- do not use petroleum jelly or anything else not intended for internal use.

If you can't talk this over with a parent, please reach out to a teacher or to a friend.

Despite what others are saying, if you are relaxed and inserting it properly, it should not hurt, even if you are a virgin. Honestly, I would talk to your doctor. They can show you how to insert it and see if there are any problems that would make it hurt so badly. You are not alone, though, honey....lots of girls have trouble using them. Don't ever be embarrassed or afraid to ask questions. Good luck!!
