How about Selene or Selena which means moon in Greek? Or how about Sayoko (Night child, Japanese). If you call your daughter Moonbeam, Moonglow,Moonlight then you will have a very picked on little daughter and they may think that their parents were hippies. Hope this helps you out.

Forgot about Luna.

Find the translation in another language, One that has a poetic ring to it, and it will be something that she can be happy with for the rest of her life, but to name a little girl Silver Lining, Just remember, that your children decide which nursing home you are going to end up in.
Also imagine that name on a late 20-something, a late 30-something, and so on...
Its not something that can be a real strong point in a professional setting.

Is it a girl? Maybe Glory or Gloria. You could also try an online dictionary like babelfish to translate those words/names into a different language of your choice. You may come up with something that is unique and truly beautiful.

I always think of the silver lining as a turn-up, or 'turnip' but that wouldn't work either......

I'd beware of names like that as they can sometimes sound like a prostitute's name, i.e. 'the name I wish I was named, so I'll take it now'

Try for something more classic and she can chose another name later, like Pikabo Streep, the skier.

dont give a freaky name to a child or they will hate you forever, it makes them a laughing stock at school , think of poor wierd moon unite and dweazle and they didnt even have to go to public school. Luna is as close to wierd as i would go for a girls name. or Aurora which is the name of the northern lights.

I don't know, but go for the nickname like that. No one wants to go through life with a bizarre name.

Why not choose something pretty like Edna or Hilda.

Without it sounding 60's, it will be hard. Iwould try some Greek mythology names though. I think maybe if you Google greek mythology or god/goddesses, you may find something.

Hey, what about Celeste, like celestial?

Why are you going to do that to your kid?! It's not "different." It's not "creative." It's just setting your child up for life-long teasing. As an adult its difficult to forget how little things like maiking fun of someone's name can be hurtful.

I named my daughter Haley,(Haleys comet, even if it is spelled differently,I preferred Haley) I did not intend on a celestial name, but when you add her last name,it really sounded celestial(will keep you thinkin on that one!)Have a {starry} evening!
