DON'T YOU DARE!!!!!! If you are going to do THAT to a kitten go to the vet! You need a professional to do it! You'll just end up hurting your cat! And it could get infected! And if you did that yourself you'll cause it horrible pain! It's horrible to do that to animals! Leave it alone or go to a vet to do it! GOT IT!?

As everyone else is saying.. Why would you want to dock its tail...
If the kitten is just a few days old you can do it the same as a puppy. Just use a clean pair of scissors and cut it off... its best to bandage it for a day or two. If you do it any older than a few days it is dangerous because the blood vessels and nerve endings have grown into the tail... after this has happened. The only safe way to do it is a vet because then it is considered a surgery, they have to literally ampuate the tail, and it will be very painful and bleed a lot, and infection is more likely to set in. The cost of a tail dock isnt much. I know at our vet clinic (for newborns) we charge about 5 or 6 dollars per kitten. I would really recommend seeing a Vet.

Yeah, I don't think cats' tails are ever docked for show purposes, and they serve an extremely useful purpose in the cat's everyday functions. As for doing it at home, the only proper way is not to do it. Only vets have been trained to know when there is a problem and the only people I would trust with a task like that.

If your cat has susatained a serious injury to it's tail and you think it requires amputation, go to your vet. If you are seeking this procedure for astetic reasons, don't. The only cats without tails are manx cats. They are born naturally without tails. When some breeds of dog are docked it is only hours after birth. Doing so later is a serious surgery. If you want a cat without a tail find a manx and leave your poor cat's tail intact.

Yes it does. I also have a manx kitten, and he is so clumsy. Tails are used for balance with cats. Thats why they have walk on such small spaces, and not fall...My manx seems to fall off everything. Dont worry about it too much. As long as she isn't hurting herself.

You don't - and a vet isn't going to either - at least not one who truly is an advocate for animals.
Why would you want to do that? Cats use their tails to show emotion, and to help with balance.
How would you like one of your anatomical parts "docked?"

Cats need their tails for balance. Don't do it its cruel. If you want a tailless cat, get a manx or a japanese bobtail.

You don't!!! Leave them alone - they work just fine. Docking is mutilation.
