An old man died in the apartment above me. He had no family or friends so it took 4 days to discover the body. A new tenant has since moved in and every time I see him in the parking lot I just want to go up to him and say, "Man, this guy died up there a couple of months ago," but that would be the wrong first impression. Or would it be the right first impression? I think it would be hilarious to see his reaction, but I know it's kind of tacky. Do you think I should tell him? He's just signed his lease too bc he moved in about a month ago. That means 11 months of living in a place you knew a guy died in!!

You don't have to tell him 'cause the deceased will make his presence known.

You shouldn't tell him it might give him the creeps and he did sign a lease so it would be mean. I've lived in a place where a teenager killed himself, stayed the night at my deceased great grandma's house, stayed a while at my deceased grandma's house. Never had anything happen in these places, but have had strange experiences in places where I didn't know of any deaths. Right now I own a deceased persons dog. So what?

This being the first conversation that you'd have with this guy, probably wouldn't make a great first impression. Chances are it wouldn't bother him anyway..save yourself the time and just welcome him to the community. You can talk about this after you've established a friendship.

Someone could have died in your apartment before you moved in.

Yah, Not the way to start a relationship with your neighbor. It might be ok to tell him later. Slip it into a conversation but not something to start with.

I see you feel the need to spead the creepiness. so get the new tentant in a casual conversation and just say "hey did you know a guy just died in your apartment"?

He will want to know the details...........fill him in.

they might of already told him before he moved in, but regardless it is NOT your place to tell him. How rude you are to take someone elses pain so lightly.

now, why would you find humor in seeing his reaction? that is a normal thing that happened up there in his apartment...we all die sooner or later...nothing funny in that, nothing funny in his reaction...and i firmly believe that someone probably DID die in your apartment...maybe viciously....
