this is not a good place to meet friends. you need to go to a chat room for that. some people are dumb and ask dumb questions. some people use profanity and lude words, like yourself. it all depends.

Let me put it this way - only on Yahoo Answers can Stephen Hawking post a question and be called a dumbass.
As with all things internet, some people are serious and some are not, and there are all combinations of stupid/smart questions and stupid/smart answers. If you ask a serious question, you'll get a bunch of answers, and 98% will be stupid (everyone does get 2 points for posting an 'answer', so there you go), 1% will be serious but incorrect, and 1% will be right on the money and make you glad you posted your question.

You will get a real mix of serious and absolutely stupid questions. It's up to you decide who is serious. I'll bet the guy you were refering wouldn't complain if he got responses. Most people forget that kids are on this too. There are some decent people on here.

There are millions of people from all over on here so you are going to get the broad spectrum of humanity - some stupid, some weird, some perverted, some gross, some intelligent.
Ask and answer. Appreciate the positive, informative ones.

All of the above. A lot of people think its great sport to be as disgusting as possible just to get kicked out. Visualize a college dorm, four or five students all within ear shot typing and yelling and laughing. 30 years ago, I'd probably be one of them!
By the way, I've had a few questions removed. I have no clue why. I thought they were brilliant!

I'm serious in my answers when people are serious with their questions, or not just being lazy.
For instance, one girl typed her entire homework project about Romeo and Juliet into the computer and wanted everyone to answer the questions for her. So I did.
With all wrong answers...
But when people ask serious questions, I'll answer seriously. And my questions are always serious and never ever fabricated.

dobbiesback is right most people in answers don't seem to be genuinely interested in answering a question sensibly (as sensibly as that question requires).
Personally I try to offer as much assistance as i can possibly give.
a good place to go is to take a look at some of the answers certain people have given. to do this left click on the responders name to the left of there answer. to then get to that persons Q&A profile page from there you can view the questions they asked and the answers they gave.
good luck impart your wisdom and have a little fun while you do it.

I think some people are very serious. Some are just sick and childish But it is a cool way to find out what other people think about situation in their life. It's a nice way of getting good advise sometimes.

Some people are stupid and weird, but for the most part, people are helpful and supportive.

If it's a serious question asked thoughfully and respectfully I'll give a serious answer. I try to ignore stupid questions. but I sometimes am compelled to expose or attack ignorance. Or sometimes I can't help busting on people who are dumb.
