Actually, Life is very fair. Humans are the one's who are inconsistant beings.
However, I do understand your question because the evidence of a fair life is not always apparent. We are very fortunate of this because it would be impossible to have free will and also have pure evidence of fair. No freedom, that's when unfair takes on a whole new meaning.
God says we reap what we sow. The world calls it Karma, Computers call it garbage in garbage out. No matter what we call it, we always get what's coming to us bad and good. Since it's not always evident, here's where "faith" comes in.
If you believe in God and his word then you have his promise that you will reap what you sow. Also, Romans 8:28 tells us that all things work together for good for those who love God. That is very refreshing. Even though we do not understand everything, it's all working to our good, if we love God.
Could you imagine being in total control? On fairness, how would you operate something as simple as a traffic light and always keep it fair? Why should one person have to wait longer than another? But perhaps the fact you waited 1 minute longer than you though was fair(evidence) was the exact reason you did not get hit in the four car crash down the road.
God is awesome, he works it all out.

What do you mean by "fair"? Does God owe us anything? None of us deserve to even have life. Yet he gave it to us. We have mocked him. Taken credit for the great blessing he has given us and called them our own creations. We ignore his word .We blame him for our shortcomings. We make poor decisions and say God must hate us. We hurt each other and say that this is proof that he does not even exist. He shows us his love constantly and we refuse to see it. We desrved to die, but instead he sent his son. We did not show respect and gratitude for his generous mercy. We spit on him and beat him and whipped him and killed him. All these things we did to the son of God. And now we say that he has never even proven that he exists. We say that he has never proven his love. We say he must be a hateful God. I don't think he's laughing about this.
So I'll answer your question two ways.
To the Christian: Have faith. God has always shown love to you and he has earned your trust. When you come through your trials your faith will be even stronger. Remember this world is not your home.
As for the lives of those who do not believe: Why should he help you? He does not owe anyone anything. If he did help you again, would you even recognize that it was him. More likely you would pat yourself on the back or thank some false god. That's what you've done so far. Amazingly he still hold his hand out to you. His love is perfect, so it does not lessen, even when you show contempt for him. If you choose him, he'll be waiting with open arms. If choose otherwise, that's your decision. Don't blame him.

Fresh,
Do yourself a HUGE favor, and flush the idea of fairness down the toilet. It is a myth, made up by people who can't handle life. Life is not fair. Never has been, never will be.
God created us with certain powers. Because we don't know how to use them, we get ourselves into all kinds of problems, and then blame Him. You have the power to shape the destiny you experience, and it is a gift from God. Want to know how it works? It's about what you think, and what you believe. This is not some "new age" mumbo jumbo. Even Jesus taught that your thoughts are as important as your deeds. Read the beatitudes in Mathew 5. Most folks take their thoughts for granted, and don't worry about them much. They are the blueprints for your fate. Forget about things being fair. We may be created equal (maybe not), but it is our beliefs that take us where we go. Go someplace nice.

God wants us, His created chldren, to look to Him when we are in trouble.
The Christian way of looking at this is to recognize that God had a reason for making man, and man screwed it up. Now God's plan for man is delayed, and each man must make his own choice as to whether he will trust God- the way man was supposed to before all this trouble began.
I'm not saying that trusting in God will make life seem fair to you, but it should alter your perspective on what " fair " really is. You may realize that we need grace, not fairness. Fairness dooms us all when the relationship between sinners like us and God is concerned. Being that we are tresspassing on His Earth. With grace, we are forgiven. A much more wonderful gift than fairness!

it depends how we see things.
if we live life without deeper understanding of who we are,
then we must suffer, and life is unfair to us.
its that because we accept things like good and bad,
if we accept duality's of life.
if i accept good, then there must come bad.
we make things look fair or unfair,
its our nature of mind to decide.
yes you still can ask same thing,
is it GOD way of having a good laugh.
sometimes i think that on this earth we have
here hell and heaven.
somebody is in hell (children starving in Africa)and someone is in heaven (bill gates).
but all that, have its end. and what is beyond that?
its untouched, unmoving, u can call it soul, life or what ever.
there is some "thing","energy", "soul" that is in us and give us life in this 3 dimensions, and is giving us power to move.
if we accept this, all dualities stop existing, so does the problems.

hmmm. I'm kinda leaning towards No.
I am almost sorry you feel this way but don't you think that everyone feels they are the one that is being treated unfairly.........then it really wouldn't be unfair would it??......if we are all treated the same. We have all got our problems. and i for one don't think that God is laughing at our lives (like that anyway).

God NEVER said life would be fair. We all have our own journeys to take. He did say that with faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, you will live life more abundantely and have a peace that passes understanding. In other words Jesus will see you through whatever.
In fact, God was not fair with us, or even His own Son. We are all sinners fallen short of the glory of God (Rom. 3:23). The penalty of sin is death, i.e. lake of fire. We justly deserve it. Yet, God loved us first, and sent His Son to live a sinless life, and die on a cross bearing all of our sins. Was that fair to Jesus? Was not giving us the punishment we justly deserve fair? I thank God He is not fair, for I have hope of eternal life. The love of God saves all those who choose to put their faith in His Son...it was grace (getting something we do not deserve -- salvation) and mercy (not giving us something we do deserve -- hell).
