It is an accurate translation, not an interpretation, of the books and letters that make up what most people consider to be the Bible. It has no extra chapters or letters or commentatries by religious leaders included. It contains only those books and letters included in the original Canon (approved pieces of work considered to be inspired by Holy Spirit in the day it was written). It brings the Word of God to the people in the common language of today, facilitating easier means to understand and study without hampering by obsolete vocabulary. It is found in more languages than any other translation in totality or part. It hails back to the original Hebrew and Greek and larger volumes include the variations found in other translations. It's creation was helped by means of the Greek Codex in order to translate it today. It does not contain teachings specific to Jehovah's Witnesses only. Jehovah's Witnesses use many translations, but favor the NWT for study. Comparison with the KJV sheds light on God's name (only referred to as LORD in KJV) as well as reveals the original canon, omitting papal commentary.

They still use the word bible as it cannot be copyrighted, but it is the interpretation rather than a translation of the actual bible.
To make my point, the men who interpreted the NWTB were four in number I believe. Three of them had no education in aramaic, hebrew or greek, and the fourth man had two years of greek studies.
This is the make up of the group that did this interpretation. Not exactly educated in transcribing original texts of anything, since the old testament was in aramaic and most of the new testament was in hebrew.

The New World Translation is the version that is used, developed and promoted by Jehova's Witnesses. It is thoroughly rejected by scholars of all other religious and lingusitic persuasions.
