A woman can be a disciple. At the night before the last supper it is said that Mary Magadelene poured perfume on Jesus and wiped his feet with her tears. So she actually may have sat next to Jesus but there is no mention of her being at the table.

>>>Leonardo da Vinci's last supper obviously shows a woman next to Christ.<<<

Even if it does -- which it doesn't -- so what? Leonardo wasn't there. He lived 1500 years after the event, so how does He know about the Last Supper other than from what the Bible tells us about it?

>>>Why may a woman not be a deciple/wife <<<

Even if a woman was at the Last Supper -- which isn't true -- that doesn't mean that she had to have been married to Jesus!

>>>Da Vinci was 500 years closer to Christ than us today<<<

So what? He still wasn't at the Last Supper. He still lived a very, very long time after the event happened.

No you are wrong. It was not a woman, many other artists always portrayed John with feminine characteristics because he was young. If this person isn't John next to Jesus, then where is John? You just got that from the whole Da Vinci code thing which Dan Brown wrote as fiction. Your question is obviously ignorant! =) Have a nice day!

Besides the fact that the painting is an artists interpretation of what christ might have looked like, it doesn not take into account that Christ was a Jew, probably rustic and olive skinned. Nor does it take into account that they did not sit at a table for the Lord's supper. Most of this is a European version of what christ would look like, because no one wants to think of Him as being different than themselves.
As for a woman being there? Jewish culture viewed women in a very poor position, they would not have been seated with the men regardless of who they were. As for being a desciple, anyone who follows Christ is a desciple. That imparts no special status.

the fellow sitting to the left of Jesus is genuinely the apostle John. the clarification his visual charm is female is because he replaced into supposedly the youngest disciple; his beardless face and lengthy hair upload to his female look. Da Vinci's portray represents the scene of The very last Supper from the most suitable days of Jesus as narrated in the Gospel of John 13:21, even as Jesus proclaims that one in all his Twelve Apostles ought to betray him. you will locate how diverse disciples react: some are shocked, others a great deal shocked, some in disbelief; John seems as although he's fainting, as although his boyish heart ought to not take the data. on the time of the portray, someone on the age John replaced into would not yet considered to be a guy, accordingly, fainting should be an perfect reaction for him.

That wan't a woman dumb butt. It was Ozzy Ozbourne. And it just so happened that he was asking the Lord for forgiveness.

ACTUALLY.....

In the painting The Last Supper, those attending the feast are from left to right as follows:

Bartholomew
James Minor
Andrew
Judas
Peter
John
Jesus
Thomas
James Major
Philip
Matthew
Thaddeus
Simon

I bet nobody else comes up with that one!
And yes, follow the link below and you will find the artwork of a myriad of artists.

No it is not obviously a women, what you are not considering is the way art was done during this time frame, it was commom practice to show a younger less masculine male for younger men, It was obvious from his practice drawings that it was a man, ( not a woman)

There were the 12 in the drawing, not a women, ( not that it would matter if there was) this was just a silly idea that has been proved false.

All believers in Jesus Christ are disciples.

The twelve men artistically rendered in the painting in question were apostles of Jesus.

Yes, there were more than the 13 of them at the last supper, but the painting does not portray that, its an artistic rendering.

Women were present at the meal, including the mother of Jesus and the other Mary.

The bible describes thousands of disciples of Jesus before his death at the cross, many of them women.

First of all Christ chose men as his disciples. Questioning the Lord is fine but not in a derogatory way. The women that followed them and helped them were not turned away.

Second of all, Jesus Christ is God in a visible body. God is already in His marriage or the marriage of Divine Love and Divine Wisdom.
