Forget god, it reeks of low self esteem. These people need therapy, not surgery.

Ooh tough question - I've wondered myself.
There are circumstances I can think of like disfiguring fire or accident of somme sort... where I think it would be helpful and God would support your decision. But to augment or change just because you want to reach some standard of perfection seems very short sighted. I resolve the question by thinking about how many vacations that money could buy or how many charitable causes could benefit from those moneys instead. Don't live superficiallhy, you'll never be satisfied -- love your self and love others - that is true beauty that all can see and feel. Good luck!

What is to be created in God's Image?

Having your nose reduced, does not change the fact that you were created in His image, nor it is to surgically remove a sixth finger from your left hand.

How about reducing your breast size to ease an incapacitating back pain.

Being created in God's Image has a more spiritual meaning than physical. Yes God have hands, and eyes, the Bible says so, but He is way more than flesh and bones.

You may be right. I just wish I was better looking. I did answer Niki's question,"Yes, I would get cosmetic surgery if I could afford it." because I would. And yes, I'm a Christian.

If I had said, "No, I would never think of changing the way God created me." but then I went and had it done, THAT would be hypocritical. Anyway, that's how I look at it.

No, because no one can mock God, but people mocked them self, because they live with complex and are not satisfied for what they are, they just want to be like everybody else, but they don't want to be like Christ.

Beside, when God say that we were created in His image, that doesn't mean is physical appearance, but in the intellectual.
Because Father God is Spirit.

Nobody knows what God looks like (remember, it is clearly stated in the Bible that if you look at God, you die), so we were made in his IMAGE, which does not mean physical- Man was made with a pure heart, etc. and THAT is the image of God, not physically.

I don't think so. Some people are born with defects, we have the means whereby they may be made whole, or in the image which is "truer" in form. As for vanity jobs, well, that's just vanity, not quite a mockery, not quiet a "real" representation of who you were made to be.

No, I have it under very good authority that God has a great sense of humour...but I have to admit that cosmetic surgery on some people really amuses the rest of us (try not to laugh out loud though...snicker snicker snicker.)
