There are many different side effects, especially when you first start a med it take a few weeks for the sleepiness to go away. If you are noticing an increase in agitaton or a change in your mood or attitude for the worse contact your MD.

Yep, puts me right to sleep and leaves me groggy for the whole next day.

been ON zyprexa bout 5 yrs. i quit takiing it for almost 1 yr.--bout 3 yrs ago; gained 20 lbs on it in 3 yrs. time; most folks say they gained MORE than i did; When i first went on it--it made me real sleepy RIGHT after taking it; now i sleep ON AVERAGE - 12 to 16 MOST DAYS! - it seems to cause me to need TOO MUCH SLEEP AND I DREAM FAR TOO MUCH. It does help my anxiety a little bit; when i stopped taking it --i quit a little too fast; (i had about 4 --5mg. tablets & I tapered off as slowly as i could --with those 4 pills! i did fairly ok---but think i was even MORE nervous than I was WHILE takiing it; i hope to get off it again some day; but have to THINK on this and possibly find other med. or med's to help me; I don't think Zyprexa helps my depression much. I guess i need to be on a med. for depression, - along with Zyprexa; I am bi-polar; altho - my mania did not return--AS BADLY - when i quit that year! - and I still needed 12 hrs. on average of sleep; ( but the anxiety was TERRIBLE - while off the Zyprexa - so i went back on it.; been back on it bout 3 yrs.!
i crave sweets--sometimes chocolate; but mostly ice cream or cereal. IT DOES NOT CAUSE ME TO EAT MORE OF OTHER FOODS. ----( when I previously took : tricyclic anti-depressant: Pamelor (nortriplite or nortripline ? ) (ONE OR OTHER ? ) --I CRAVED CHOCOLATES!!!!! ( I AM ADDICTED TO MOUNTAIN DEW (SOFT DRINK) - FOR 22 YRS. NOW---CONSUME ONE OR 2 PER DA--MOST DAYS. ------i THINK I READ THAT : with long -term use ? --that a side effect - can be: tardive SOMETHING - OR : an involutary muscle movements;;;;;; and I've had THAT --but only 2 or 3 times thus far!!! - hope it does not get worse; also - i think that SOME type of malignant syndrome - CAN be a dangerous side effect; but i assume THAT might be rare! - i've not had my eyes checked -EVER - yet to date; have to do that soon! don't know if glaucoma is a side effect of zyprexa AND also don't know if Cataracts if a side effect? -- i plan to do more study and look it up again; it's hard to remember EVERYTHING about it! ---BEST WISHES! - also - I think Zyprexa took away all sex-drive- but does not matter - I not married NOW!; I am in mid 50's; but have a sister who takes Seroquel - a similiar drug (anti-psychotic -ALso--& she says it took ALL her sex drive away, too; & she gained more weight on it and zyprexa before Seroquel - THAN I have. again, best wishes! p.s. NOTE: I DO NOT get sleepy immediately AFTER taKING MY ZYPREXA - now- BUT IN LONG RUN - it causes me to need far TOO much sleep.; that what I hate most about it; & zyprexa is causing many to have: diabetees - i read; don't know what percentage , tho. - I don't think i'm a diabetic YET! ALSO - it might be causing me to have MORE depression--i not sure; it's hard for me to feel like doing anything that I feel I don't just HAVE to get done; it's like I'm going up a mountain - all the time! - but it was similar to THAT - before I ever took it THE FIRST TIME.; note: when I quit taking zyprexa--i never got back to being my old self; but always DID so - WHEN I QUIT OTHER MED'S! i THINK I TOLD U ALREADY: I'M Bi-polar; at least i was diagnosed with that - many yrs. ago & I had most of the symptons of bipolar WHEN off med's! - racing thoughts; flights of ideas-- thought of them faster than i could get them written down on paper! -also excessive TALKING---just could not get everything told- but it was about important stuff-AND WHEN FOLKS JUST WOULD NOT LISTEN - except for very few closest loved ones! i'll shut up now; ha-ha! AGAIN--BEST WISHES!! I don't know if Zyprexa is a real bad med. or not--but at least i felt NORMAL part of the time when off med. -and other types of nerve med's caused me to sleep too much or NOT sleep enough and some caused my manic to set in--- Pamelor - being one of them, as well as other tri-cylic anti-depressants.

used to take it, had to stop because of the side effects.
if you stop, PLEASE do not stop all at once!!!!! you have to taper off or you could have a real bad issue and end up hospitalized.....talk to yer doc about it please
Pretty wild medicine and have to go off of slowly

yes seems to make me like a zombie,(which i hate) and makes me crave sugar, and retain water, and horrible nighmares

ya i take it makes my legs stiff n ridged
