Stay off it, for a while. Make a makeshift cast for it out of clothes or whatever you can. Soak it every 15 minutes in epsom salt. Any reason it's swollen?
Is it gout? Do you know if it's gout?

Take 600 mg of ibuprophen every 6 hrs for a day or two; if no relief, see a doctor; could be serious in absence of an injury

If it's swollen due to an injury, see a doctor right away.
If it's swollen due to fluid retention, see a doctor as soon as you can.
If it's swollen due to infection, see a doctor immediately.

Ice will help take down the swelling, so will Tylenol. Keep it elevated.
If it is due to an injury or has persisted for a while, you may want to consult your physician.
