I genuinly care about other people, and want them to know of God's love and salvation if they don't already know. It is most definately your choice what you believe, but I can't just sit by and watch while you are dying without Christ and going to hell for that.

Someone's beliefs reflect who they are as a person, and a lot of religions out there say that anyone who doesn't believe as they do should be punished, and so they are twisted into thinking they are helping other people by making them believe the same thing. I also would want to know if my neighbor believed in human sacrifice or child molestation. I know such things are considered criminal and not usually considered religious beliefs, but be aware there are such organizations as "Man-Boy Love" who believe all males should lose their virginity before age 12, or something like that, and promote underage homosexual intercourse. That is an extreme case, but when people are led to believe that if you don't believe in Jesus, then you are damned and therefore evil, they start to think everyone outside their religious beliefs are all the same.

If you see that someone is out in the middle of the street and a bus is coming, wouldn't you want to let them know so they could get out of the way and be saved?

That is why it is important to tell ppl why you believe what you believe. If you have the truth, shouldn't you share it with others so that they can also be saved? If you have the answers and just keep them to yourself, how is that showing love for anyone but yourself.

I don't believe that it should be given with hatred, bitterness or an act of being superior over anyone. We are all lost and need a Savior. I, by the way, believe what the Word of God says, "Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life and no one can enter into heaven but by Him. I will share that truth till the day I die. :-)

You are very naive.

Consider the history of religion. War, slavery, bigotry, racism.

A personal belief a religion may be OK. At worst the person would just be considered an asshole. But collectively a bunch assholes can really do some major damage.

Good question. Me being an athiest I get alot of crap living in Utah and having to explain my "insanity" to people. If I go to hell Im goin to hell. Except for me without heaven there is no hell either, so, I guess my "soul" will be wherever they bury me.lol. Although discussing what someone believes in makes for very good controversial conversation, it often gets into a power struggle of whos God is true. I thought when people got older they grew up but Ive seen some crazy grown *** people ready to die or kill for their religon which makes no sense because even as an athiest I know that that isn't very christ-like.

It seems to be different reasons for different religions.

Some religions seem to believe that anyone who won't covert to their religion deserves to die. They believe their god wants it that way.

Some religions want numbers for political reasons. They get more power for their members that way.

The Christian faith cares about how others believe because we were told by our leader, Jesus Christ, to "Go out and tell to all the nations the good news." The news being that a Holy God who would not tolerate sin had provided a way for sinful man to be redeemed. So, we tell people. Sometimes it isn't received very well, but we still do it.

Because when people DO understand, we are so happy for them!

Religion is detrimental to society. By "respecting" moderate religious believers, you make it impossible to criticize religion. And if you can't criticize religion, you can't make all the people realize that there's no such thing as god. And if you can't do that, well, you end up with...

9/11
The Crusades
The Inquisition
Witch burnings
The Holocaust
Waco, TX

etc, etc, etc

well, first of all - Respecting one's choice to practice which ever religion they want; is commendable.

Caring about someone else is also commendable. So why not extend it to their Spirituality? What's wrong with being concerned over a person's Spirituality.

I don't agree with "forcing" beliefs on someone, however - I do believe in being concerned over their Spiritual welfare.

("You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink." Same thing applies here.... You can inform someone of the truth, but it's their choice if they want to accept it.)

All faith-based religious belief is fully deserving of all the scorn and ridicule that can be heaped upon it. It is a matter of rational minds standing in opposition to delusion, willful ignorance, myth and superstition. It is quite necessary that this be done, if we are to have any hope that the human race will survive and evolve to meet out full potential. So, when delusion, willful ignorance, myth and superstition are presented and declared to 'truth', in the venue of a PUBLIC FORUM, it is absolutely necessary that it be confronted.

However, in the privacy of your own mind, rational people DO respect your right to delude yourself in whatever fashion you deem fit.

Curiousity sometimes but sometimes they like to think they are better than others. Everyone goes to the same Heaven. I had a chauvanistic abusive husband. When I fell for someone else due to ignorance and abuse, people judged ME when he caused the whole mess. He wouldnt listen or do counselling and love died. I lost lots of friends and relatives who were too busy judging me to think of my feelings. Now the new husband's son shows no interest in meeting me. People need to open their minds. We are all human with feelings!
