I'm not sure, just by how you wrote your question, whether you are asking about Mary giving birth as a virgin, or being born of a virgin? (Some people do claim both)

I'll go with the second. It's Matthew 1:23 people are referring to. It's the (writer of Matthew)'s attempt to fulfill the prophecy in Isaiah 7:14. The word being translated from that verse (in Isaiah) is "almah", which does not necessarily mean a girl who has not had sex. It could also be translated "young woman", "maiden", "damsel", just "girl", etc.

There are verses of the Bible which suggest some of the Christian authors believed Joseph was the biological father of Jesus. Look at Acts 13:23, Revelation 22:16, for instance.

No, it does not. Only the Virgin Birth of Jesus is spoken of, (See below)

The Birth of Jesus Christ......

This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.

But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins."

All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel"—which means, "God with us."

When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus." - Matthew 1:18-25

The Bible is silent on Mary's birth. It does not mean there was not a Virgin Birth of Mary that happened in history. Since much information has been lost due to the passage of time, it would be difficult to prove. Also however, the Gospel of Matthew is all about Jesus and not Mary. She is in there throughout, but the focus of Matthew is on Christ.

Yup. Matthew 1:23-25 "Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us." "Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took to him his wife:" "And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS."

Jesus is also called Emmanuel. Joseph knew Mary not till after Jesus was born, so Mary was a virgin.

No...that's a Catholic thing. It's not in the Bible. Mary was a simple, devoted Jewish girl.

Mary was not virgin born. That is Catholic tradition; it is false.
