If you are on any antidepressant you should go off them gradually, many people who are on them think they are better and don't need them any more and when they go off them the symptoms all start again. Make sure you are ready and do it gradually taking less tablets and missing a day in between towards the end,or you will end up with severe headaches etc.Good Luck

Please, please be careful! While anti-depressants are often very helpful, there is a REAL danger of increased suicidal tendencies. I speak from experience. My best friend was prescribed Zoloft and it seemed to work well for him, until he hanged himself with his belt from his balcony. Apparently it was over a minor squabble with his roommate. I'm not trying to scare you, I just want you to be REALLY careful going through withdrawls. People are always more vulnerable when they're having withdrawls, so I always suggest making sure that they're not alone for any long period of time. Also, remember never to let yourself get too hungry, angry, lonely, or tired ( H.A.L.T.) And lastly, always remember that "this too shall pass..." Good luck to you.

i TOOK ZOLOFT 2 MO'S -SEVERAL YRS. AGO; i tapered off of it. I quit it because all of a sudden - felt like something biting me all over-----something like that; doc thought it was allergic reaction & took me off it. When i first went on zoloft - it caused me to have panic attacks; i thought i was having heart-attack; THIS WAS AFTER ONLY 1 or 2 hrs--after my 1st dose! - so i went back to Dr. and he put me on Xanax--ALONG with the Zoloft. ; Also - while I was on zoloft I had EXTRA HEAVY MENSTRAL PERIODS; and while on both the above med's _I slept 12 to 16 hrs per day! and I was only taking .5 MG. OF THE XANAX --DAILY! I don't remember the amt. of the dosage of the Zoloft. ( i now take Zyprexa---- (helps my anxiety a little --but i only take 2.5 mg. per day; i've gained 20 lbs. on it --in bout 3 yrs. time. I NOW SLEEP 12 to 16 hrs. per day--lots of days!-- ( One guy told me he gained 100 or 75 lbs on Zprexa - in 1 yr. and slept MOST of 24 hrs per da!!! BEST WISHES! ( PS - I'M BI-POLAR ----MANY YRS.!
