In the 1600's and 1700's in France, it was considered stupid to bathe. One French king remoarked on the 30-something birthday that he was proud that he had never had a bath in his entire life...like those heathern Englishmen.

I heard a news report years ago about kids who were abused. They didn't bathe for years and they had to have some toes cut off
