I think you can be both, and I think that your goal should be just that.

A good husband because a good husband is a good father too, but a good father might not be a good husband.. first you have to have a good impact on your own family and then society and human race.. by having a stronger family and good relationship between husband and wife, you'll have a good family and role models such as father and mom..

Can I say both??
if not, I will say a good father is better than good husband.
sometimes the definition of good husband is abused by DA WIFE
The wife may demand a lot from a husband. But as father, kids can tell you truthfully and honestly!!

The best thing that I can give my children is the love I have for their mother. So I can't differentiate between the two. I made my wife a promise once we were married and started having children and that was this: "I would never be a public success at the expense of being a private failure." I'm working hard as always keeping my PH.D. I'm a Pastor, Husband and Dad.

I happen to think that one of the biggest parts of being a good father is being a good husband. Love your kids enough to raise them in a good marriage.

I think that it can be dynamic, when your kids are babies then the primary care giver needs more support from their spouse. Babies tend to stick with one parent for a few years, so the onther one can support the spouse more. As kids age (and we do also) the needs can flux. Teenagers need less of the time you devoted to bath, and bed routines...(AKA more romantic dinners with each other)
You can't be all things to all people, but if you remember to have spouse and kids at the top of the pile...then you will come closer to developing yourself to be the best you can be as a husband and a father.
