AP Bio, AP Geopolitical Economics, AP English Lit,and AP Spanish are some of my classes. I'm taking AP U.S History online, and Honors Pre-Calc, Honors Physics, Journalism 2, and a required elective are some classes that I am taking at school. I am involved in Key Club, NHS, tennis, and the newspaper staff. My friends are telling me I have gone overboard. What do ya think?
P.S. I want to get into a college like NYU or Princeton.

I know how ya feel girl. It really is hard to find a balance. However, the best thing you can do is to make sure you know your weaknesses. If you think you can handle a schedule like this, then go ahead. You can never be sure though. It is really hard sometimes to drop a class. You might feel like you are letting someone down or that you aren't going to get into your dream school, but is it worth the sacrifice of your teenage years to put yourself through this? It was to me. I am really happy that I chose to stick it out, but if you feel overloaded, don't put yourself in a position to fail. Do what you feel is right. Maybe you can handle it, but if not, then don't be afraid to tell your counselor your fears. They will help you to decide if this is a good idea.

You set your own priorities. If you really want to get into an ivy-league school, there is no replacement for leadership roles and taking advantage of every advanced-education opportunity you possibly can.

If you want to have a life during high school, you may end up needing to drop one or more of these demanding responsibilities. But if you're prepared for the challenge, go full speed ahead! More power to ya! =)

P.S. - unless you're failing, the classes are more important than the grades. A "B" in AP is better than an "A" in a regular class.

If you are not a senior, the answer is a resounding YES!!!! because you can do some of that later.

If you are a senior, remember they look at your GPA and entrance exams, so it won't matter how many honors classes you take if you get D's and F's. And you won't be able to learn everything you need for good scores on the entrance exams if you are only doing enough to get D's and F's.

However, you are the best judge. You have to have room to breathe and be a teenager. If you find yourself sacrificing sleep and having to decide what things, especially responsibilities to yourself or family (like homework or chores) you need to cut so you can get SOME things done, you are definitely going too far. So you need to decide.

Depends. What are your grades like in all these subjects? How much time are you putting into all your activities. If you're doing all this stuff, but doing none of it well, then you're really not helping your cause.

You need to remember that you need to choose a school based on your interests & a good fit, rather than just the cache of a certain type of school. Almost any college you choose will be ok, as long as you make the most of your time there.

I think if you can still find time for yourself and pass you classes then so be it. Sometimes you ahve to make some sacrifices to get where you want. If it is worth the cost then do it. If it is something you enjoy, then do it. I wouldn't be bothered too much by what your friends say.... isn't that called peer pressure? Just do what you think is best. Yes this is a crowded schedule, but it will look good when you are done as long as you keep a good GPA.

It's your life, so you should do what you think is right, but be aware that you may not be able to keep up this pace forever! If you can do it now, do it, but at the first signs of pressure (sleeplessness, sleeping too much, inability to concentrate because you feel overloaded, etc.) be sure you ask for help! Have you seen Rushmore? It's important to have balance in your life as well, including time for you to relax, chill and be at peace. Universities want to see that you are a well-rounded person, not necessarily an over-achiever.

i think you might be overdoing it a bit to get into those type of colleges...maybe you should pick your best subject and focus on that...i had a friend that was really great in math and got a scholarship to yale but those were the only AP type classes he was in...with all these honors classes how do you plan on doing all your homework and still having time for extra curicular activities? i say drop a few AP classes and go in to a few regular classes....those type of colleges look at your GPA as well and you have to make sure youre going to be able to maintain it...as for NYU you dont have to have the best GPA to get into that school...alot of it depends on your application...and what you plan on studying i got accepted to NYU for photography and my GPA was like a 3.2 when i graduated highschool

No, you are not overdoing it. To get to the competitive colleges you want, you have to go above and beyond. They are envious that you can do all of this successfully. Power to you, girl!
