Do all three of you are in the same page?
Does your friend know he doesn't stands a chance? How valuable is this friend to you? Would he feel betrayed by you? And if so, how much does it matter to you?
What about her? Does she wants to be in the middle of this? Do you want her to go through with this?
You already know the answer to these questions? Then you know what to do.
