Technically, the A380 has to meet all the regulations as any other aircraft approved by EASA or the FAA, so it should be a fairly safe design. Therefore, flying in it will still be safer than driving a car in the US (assuming all the pilots and mechanics are adequately trained).
On the practical, passenger side of it, there seems to be few airports equipped to handle it, and I would think that boarding it would be very annoying. A mechanical delay, which they would probably be very sensitive to initially, would cause a huge problem. Probabilistically, I'd avoid it until they've worked out all the maintenance and logisitical kinks. Not really a safety concern

Airbus makes terrible aircraft for the passenger. Even if it were safe I wouldn't want to be on an A380. But I also don't have confidence in that plane. Its had too many problems in development and makes a juicy target for a islamo wacko

I was on a 747 last week and talking to the flight attendant about the new Airbus and how many people it could carry. She had the same concerns that I did about being with that many people. Additionally, not to cast dispersions on the venture, but Airbus is behind schedule and is losing business to Boeing as they pursue the new plane. Sure hope they aren't cutting corners in the process.
Also, in regards to being with that many people, I was on a cruise ship with 2,000 people once and that's just too many people to be around in a relatively cramped space.
Bottom line, it may be an engineering marvel but it doesn't seem to really meet any need other than to impress. Spruce Goose? - Wasn't that the name of Howard Hughes's wooden humongous plane that flew one time for a total of less than a mile?

I would ok.. but then again I make a promise not to get back on aircraft after I got out of the military. Got tried of flying all over the world in the same windowless c-130, c-151 etc etc. Not that the crews were bad.. It just got boring after awhile.

It wouldn't bother me as long as the aircraft never left the ground.
