Does anyone else think that the theory of original sin makes for an unjust God? If we are all sinners before we have even done anything wrong , where is the justice in that? How does it make sense that children should pay for the sins of their ancestors. If you did not commit these crimes, how can you be asked to pay for them? If original sin is real, does that make God unjust and petty?

Waeyeaw said "with every action comes an equal reaction." So do you mean that eating an apple=all humanity cursed for eternity?

Btw, i never said that I though that God was unjust. I believe that God would be just, but I don't believe in original sin. I am wondering how someone can believe in original sin and still believe God is just.

we choose to sin. if god did not give us free will, we would all be puppets. and Jesus was not a sinner. get off of your anti-christian bandwagon, and go talk to someone who can help clear up all the misconceptions that you have.

That is exactly why I do not buy the theory of original sin, or sin at all, for that matter. I cannot believe in God as anything but all-loving, unconditional love.

I feel that the concept of sin is a human construct designed by early male religious and political leaders to promote their patriarchal agendas and control the masses through fear-based living.

Nope - God gives each of a choice to go to Him. He has already doen the tough work which is to lay down His only son so that His blood may be spilled to reconcile us to God.

In Genesis, God gives Adam - Eve and from there the choice to either listen to God OR listen to Satan. It was Eve's choice to listen and follow Satan. For doing that all people after that would then be condemned and automatically becoming sinners.

But, as God watched the people of the earth continue to screw things up. He decided to give us His only son to die and spill the blood that would save us and bring us to that relationship that was cut off by the eating of that apple in the Garden of Eden.

God is justified in doing what He did. Remember God can do anything at any time and we are not to judge that or ask God why. Lastly, we must remember God warned Adam and with not following the warning Adam was put to death as a result of that choice.

With every action comes an equal reaction

God did not create "original sin," Adam did. Although we are born under the curse of Adam, until the age of accountability (which is different for everyone, if you sin and die you won't go to hell. For example, you don't have to worry about a 5 year old disobeying his parents and going to hell... he isn't yet accountable for his actions. Because God provided a way around sin, in the old testment through sacrifices, and in the new testment Jesus... I would say God is a very just God.... Adam provided the sin, God provided the way out.

The concept of original sin is one of a Calvinistic belief, and not one found in scripture. Scripture tells us that we are responsible for our sin, not that Eve's sin tainted us all.
As for children paying for the sins of their parents...well, God has done that many times. David being a perfect example when his son was the price of his sin. However, you might consider that God sees this in a different light than you or I. Since Hs is the author of our lives, and the creator, we live this life on time borrowed from Him. Death does not have the same connotation to Him as it does to us. His reclaiming the soul of a child is one of bringing that child to Him, but to us, we face the sense of loss and regret.
Remember, He gets to make decisions about and over His creations, and it doesn't really matter if we agree, like or dislike. That is simply the position we face.
Does that mean He doesn't love us? No certianly not. But the thing that made David "a man after God's own heart" was that David realized his place with God, and when the child died he went back to his life not blaming God.
As it says in Job, after God allowed Satan to afflict him in every sort of way..."Job did not sin by accusing God of wrong doing." Job also knew his place and said as much..."Should we not accept good from God, as well as bad."

I think that because we are sons and daughters of Adam and Eve that we inherited sin. I don't believe ANYONE can say they have never sinned. It's in our nature and God knew it would be when Adam and Eve were created. His plan is to show us how to turn to him and turn away from sin. God is not unjust and petty. Those are human traits, not heavenly traits.

No, tis you who are unjust and petty lol. God is righteous. He wants us to love Him and walk with Him daily. He says, over and over and over again in His Word that He isn't looking for a perfect person, He's looking for someone to love Him.

It's not about justice, it's about Love. If you will just stop with the trying to fit to the letter of the law and just try your best to be the person God wants of you, you will not ask such a question again. Because you will see how petty that is.

Satan first said God unjust. If you paid the price for your own sins would that be just? Or would it be okay to accept Christ's sacrifice for our sins? We have a sinful nature by our ancestory but we can overcome it through the blood of Jesus Christ.

no if he was unjust he would have never sent his son jesus to die for our sin and thru his blood our sins are gone thats the price he payed so we can have eternal life. Remember this he always make away for you. The decision is in your hand to make. Thats why its free will

I think "god" wanted to have his bases covered and he knew that we were not perfect and would be tempted by some kind of sin. (Mine is chocolate lol). So he wanted to make sure that we learned from the people before us and would hopefully not repeat it. BUT of course through all that time we have showed that we SIN, SIN ,SIN LOL. I think god is al lknowing and loving and he will forgive us in the end for all our sins because that is what Jesus supposedly died on the cross for!

We have been born into a sinful world. By nature we are all sinners. Not one of us can go one day without sinning. We all fall short of the glory of God.
