It is not true.
It is common knowledge the world is spherical.
Who told you that 60% of Americans think the world is flat?
I think that person has 100% of his/her brain missing.

It is not flat but, an oblong sphere. It spins on its axis at approx. 25,000 MPH and therefore at the equator it is a bit wider than a true sphere.
