replace it with something that looks similar, ie, small white ball?? once she realises its not going to hatch she will abandon it

She is worn out waiting for it to hatch. Just remove it and don't get bitten.She will guard the egg. and she will lay another in about 9 days. What kind of bird is it? If its a cockatiel, you can find a vet to spay it. Not a small bird. to dangerous

Wait 1-2 weeks after its layed preferably 2 she will get sick of sitting on it.

I know it may seem harsh but you should take the egg away from her after 2 weeks, She should return to her normal self after this.

I usually just leave the egg there. The hen will shove it out of the way after a few days. When she's out to eat, you can pull the egg then :-)

eventually, my bird give up & tosses it or just leaves it there - usually they break it - If it's causing any problems, just take it out. I always tell me birds "Ooo, what a pretty egg, thank you!"
Yes, I talk to them & they love me, they always know that I approve of whatever they do.
