As soon as you can. Unless you have doubts, then you should wait. . .

You can plan a wedding in 6 months or less, although I do not recommend it.
You should at least give yourself 12-18 months to plan a wedding. Especially if you are planning to have either the ceremony or the reception at a popular location. Most of these will fill up a year or more in advance. Also take into consideration your photographer, dj, caterer, etc... might be in high demand.
This will allow you to pace yourself and not over stressed in the last couple of weeks.

Depends on how big it is and where you want to have it. Some venues will demand planning a year or more in advance. Also, the same goes for some churches if you're not affiliated with one - and it could even be yours. These things get booked quickly in wedding "season". Typically, you want to start very soon after the engagement is announced. Give yourself a couple of weeks to enjoy the engagement, then roll your sleeves up and get started.

at least 1 year if you are wanting a specific location (other than church). Places get booked over 1 year in advance. If you are just wanting a simple church wedding with the reception at the church, you can wait a little longer to start your planning. The sooner you plan everything, the less stressed you will be in the end, though.

As soon as you say YES...it takes AT LEAST a year to plan the wedding....In our family we are on our 3rd one in 4 years....and believe me it takes all of those 12 months... My youngest sis is getting married Aug 4, 07 and already the church is booked...that was the soonest she could get in..they really wanted 07/07/07 [which is a Saturday believe it or not] but they were all booked up..so if you want it at a certain place....book that first!

It's possible to plan a big beautiful wedding in under 2 months. My husband (finance then) and I were in the war and when we came home, we were married 30 days later. The only thing that was done prior to us coming home was reserving a place to have it and my mom did that.

As soon as you set a date. Sometimes it takes a long time to get certain reception sites, and other things booked so it usually takes a year to plan an extravagant wedding. Congrats!

At Least 6 months so that you can get the things you want
ie: the hall reception site, dresses, tuxes rings Things that you need to order and have in advance invitations should be sent out about 2-3 months before hand.
Just remember to stay calm and Relax and enjoy your day!

I'd say at least 6 months...get a wedding planner book, they are great!!!
It sometimes can take awhile to get your dresses when you have to order them, it took me 4 months and then still had to do the fitting...and that was only ONE thing...
good luck
I feel like you can never be too organized...except don't forget to enjoy every minute of it and not stress too much!!!
