Shell's Shrimp and Garlic Pasta
8 oz. linguine
2 Tbsp. butter
1 lb. shrimp -- cleaned and halved
1/2 C. Olive oil
1/2 C. dry White Wine
8 cloves garlic -- crushed
2 dashes soy sauce DO NOT OVERDO, BUT IMPORTANT
2 C. heavy cream
salt and pepper
Methods/steps
Cook the butter and the linguine in salted boiling water until almost al dente. Drain and set aside. Combine olive oil, wine, garlic, salt and pepper, soy sauce and heavy cream in a large saucepan. Add the shrimp, stir and add the linguine. Stirring gently, cook over medium high heat for almost 10 minutes, or until shrimp is done and linguine is perfectly done. Serve at once. It will initially seem a little runny, but will set up and become a wonderful sauce. DO NOT USE HALF AND HALF! Don't cook it the full 10 minutes if it doesn't need it.

i think this is an Aussie recipe ??
I love it and it is SOOOO easy.
125 grams butter
2 tablespoon Golden Syrup
2 tablespoons boiling water
1 teaspoon Bicarbonate of Soda
1 cup Sugar
1 cup Flour
1 cup Rolled oats
1 cup Dessicated Coconut
Preheat oven to 150 degrees c.
Grease a couple of baking trays or line them with non-stick baking paper.
Melt butter in a small saucepan on low heat, then add the Golden Syrup {do not let it boil}. Dissolve Bicarbonate of Soda in 2 tablespoons of boiling water, then add to the butter/syrup - careful because it will froth up!
Combine all dry ingredients in a mixing bowl and add the butter mixture and mix well. Put spoonfulls of mixture on the prepared trays, approx. 5 cm apart, flattening them slightly.
Bake for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
EDIT:
Once cooked, leave on the trays until they have gone nearly cold, otherwise they will fall apart!! :)
Once nearly set, move them to a metal rack so they don't "sweat" and turn soggy!
Good luck.

Okay, easy pasta. If your Moms likes blue cheeses, this will be addictive for her. Boil up some Bowties. While they're on, take 2 forks, and crumble up some gorgonzola cheese. It's a creamy Italian blue (comes in wedges, OR you can get it in those packs that are pre-crumbled.) Then, shred some radicchio (red lettuce), finely. Crack a couple walnuts, and chop the pieces up a bit. When the pasta is done, drain it and set it aside. Put some heavy cream in a saute pan. When it heats up, add the crumbled cheese. As the cheese melts, add the lettuce and walnuts. when it's all married, add some pasta, and toss. serve it piping hot. Say "Ta-Da", ...and wait for the praise.

This time of year, there is only one answer for me: the Betty Crocker recipe for sugar cookies. One of my first holiday memories is of my grandmother and her Betty Crocker Picture Cookbook from the 1950's and a kitchen full of us grandchildren as "helpers". Making sugar cookies is a simple thing, made infinitely more complex and exciting by last-minute improvisations, arguing over who gets to use what cookie cutter, and who gets to lick the spoon. The smell of baking sugar cookies still brings tears to my eyes when I think of those days. The cookbook itself passed down to my mom, then to my sister. We have a newer edition, but nothing will ever take the place in my memory of that old tattered book and the well-known page that meant Christmas was truly here. The recipe itself is now online, the link is below. I hope you use it and it brings you some of the delight and love it has brought to millions of small children over the decades.

Prep. Time: 1:45
Serves: 4
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. paprika
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp. black pepper
20 chicken wing segments
1/2 cup butter OR margarine
1/2 cup hot sauce (see Notes, below)
-In a shallow dish, combine flour, salt, paprika, garlic powder, and peppers.
-Coat chicken entirely in the flour mixture; refrigerate coated wings for 1 hour; coat chicken again with remaining flour mixture.
-In a 2-quart saucepan, heat butter and hot sauce just until butter melts; turn heat to low and keep warm on stove top.
-Deep-fry chicken, 8 - 10 pieces at a time, in 375 degree oil (vegetable oil, canola oil, or peanut oil) for 13 minutes, turning once or twice.
-Drain chicken on a wire cooling rack for 30 seconds, then immediately toss fried chicken in buffalo sauce mixture and remove with a slotted spoon.
-Repeat with remaining chicken.
Adjusting the spiciness of the sauce: As is, the recipe produces a medium sauce. To change the amount of spiciness, simply adjust the butter-to-hot sauce-ratio:
Mild: Use 3/4 cup butter and 1/4 cup hot sauce.
Hot: Use 1/4 cup butter and 3/4 cup hot sauce.

Haystacks:
About a pound of hamburger cooked.
Add a can of tomato sauce
About a cup of water
Taco seasoning to taste
and as much minute rice as it will take to absorb the liquid.
When rice has absorbed most or all of liquid, put on top of crushed tortilla chips adding sour cream, cheese, lettuce and/or whatever you like.
The measurements are not exact. If you get too much liquid, add more rice and visa versa.
