I'm fifteen and have been dealing with these since I was about three. Over the counter meds like advil, ibuprofen and bear don't work. I take prescription meds.

maybe it would be better to try to eliminate the migraine before symptoms even occur. Herbal supplements work really good. This site has some good info, maybe you can show it to Mom and the doctor. It may be worth a try. Good Luck!

My husband and daughter get migraines ... and we have found a number of triggers. One is fatigue ... don't let yourself get too tired. Another is excess hunger ... eat small meals throughout the day. Some of the other ones are not allergies, but food sensitivities ... orange food colours (like in orange soda), chocolate, MSG.

That's a place to start at least. Good luck finding your triggers and getting those migraines under control.

By the way, the medicine that works best and fastest is Advil Liqui-gels for Migraines, if you can find them in the drug stores.

If you haven't been to your Dr. yet he/she should provide you with a list of foods that usually trigger migraines. For some people it is peanuts, diary products, chocolate, etc. You may also want to visit your dentist or even an ENT to ensure that you sinus cavities aren't the cause of the problem. Your eyesight may also be a trigger.

If you've checked out all your avenues and still can't find a trigger...you should start looking into ways to relieve the pain. Good Luck!

Try dropping things (one at a time) in your daily routine for a week at a time and see if you notice a difference. Also, I have no clue how old you are, but if you're just starting to go through menopause they will happen more frequently until your hormones calm down.

have you ever gotten a concussion?struck on the head? bumped it falling?
have you ever gotten so drunk that you had a head ache for three weeks? you could have fallen and not remenbered. did you get into a lot of fights when you were younger? take a lot of blows to the head?

if not, or if so i would see a specialist about it. the brain is a precious organ.

Look at your diet...are you consuming lots of caffeine? eating lots of sweets? what about air fresheners you use in your house? or perfumes or colognes that are worn around you?

Mine are triggered by too much caffeine, different scents and being tired and stressed.
