Mainworry is right. You can't tell a true Christian by looking at the exterior body. You can tell by what he or she saids. ' Out of the abundance of the heart(mind), the mouth speaks. That goes also with what a person writes, cause it comes from the heart. In banking, to find a counterfeit bill, the employees study the real bill closely, then it is easy to identify a false one. Test everything. Make sure you do your research on the history of each organization, such as the JW's or Mormons. These are counterfeit christians. Denying Jesus as being devine, equal to God, 3 in 1. Like an apple - the father is the core, Jesus is the flesh, and the Holy Spirit is the red wrapping. ONE apple, but 3 parts. Gotta go. Hope it helps. Bye.

Mat 7:16 You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?
Mat 7:17 So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit.
Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
Basically, a true Christian, one that is growing in Christ and walking the walk faithfully and fully, you'll know him by the fruit of the Holy Spirit in his/her life. They will glow with these things, not literally, as I know some will attack that metaphor.
You never really know a true from a fake, completely, but you can know with great certainity by their fruit.. You never know which part of a walk the person is with Christ, therefore maybe their sanctification process (their being changed from one degree of holiness to another) may be just started or not. You don't really know how mature a Christian is therefore it's wrong to judge, and any any case it's wrong to judge.
Basically, if you see a person continuing to live in sin and delight in evilness, it's a pretty safe assumption that they are not a true Christian. If you see someone that sins, but wants to stop and tries not to sin, and is following Christ, reads their Bible, attends church happily, then it's good to assume they are a Christian. There isn't a set requirement for being a Christian and I can't say a Christian has to do this this and this or he's/she's fake. That's legalism and wrong. That's what the pharisees tried to do - they lived by laws, not by faith.
It's a love relationship. A brotherly, fatherly, savior, redeemer, love relationship. If a person is a true Christian, they have this relationship and you can see that in the person's life. If it isn't evident, it's possible they still are Christians, just not mature and as grown as others you may see.

True Christians are the ones that respect everyone regardless of what differences they have. The fake christians are the ones that think they're right and every body else is wrong.

It is my guess that we won't know the true Christians until the final days.
I have a light hearted story along this line. I mean no offense, but I think it is cute.
In order to know the True Christians, we pray to God to turn the ankles of the Untrue Christians. Then we shall all know the Untrue Christians by their limp.
God Bless.

A true Christian will show their Christianity. A Christian cannot lose their Christianity so a fake christian is just a phony person who was never a Christian to begin with.

By their fruit.
Mat 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Mat 7:16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
Mat 7:17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
Mat 7:18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Mat 7:19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
Mat 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

I received an e-mail the other day that explained it better than I've ever heard.
Fake Christian, AKA Noun Christian because if they didn't tell you you would never know.
Real Christian, AKA Verb Christian, their Christian beliefs are evident in the manner in which they conduct themselves and treat others.

When they speak, a true christian's mouth is open. Or is it the other way around?

Indeed, I agree with Mainworry. The fruit, the deed will proof they are true or not. Jesus said those fake followers of Him will cried out "Lord, didn't we prophesied on Your name?". But the Lord will said "Go away because I have not know thee... "
