Because u learn about things from the past and about others so we can have a higher understand f the world around us!
The dictionary because u will get educated and can speak proper english and write it well too!

This is funny because I'm taking Composition right now! It gives you more knowledge of proper pronunciation, grammar, and sentence structure. Take a look around you...half of these people on here can't spell! Those are obviously the ones that don't read that much!

Reading non-fiction is good because it expands your horizons and you can learn from it.

I'm not sure if I totally understand your question.It's good to read anything.It's a brain exercise.And,if you really want to work that brain,read backwards and upside down.Not you,the page!

it increases your knowledge your vernacular and makes you a more verbal person. It helps you develop a sense of who you are and what you like, you do better in school and better in personal or social relationships, and more importantly it helps you develop a sense of humor
