My mom swears to me that I'm not. But she's fat, and I'm skinny. She smells weird and I don't. We don't look anything alike. She has a high pitched voice and mine's kind of deep. I'm pretty sure I'm adopted but my mom won't admit it.

I don't look like my dad either. He's bald and smokes. I have hair and don't smoke. He's got a beer belly and I have a six pack. He wears glasses and I wear contacts. We're totally different too.

Is there a way to find out?

If you're adopted, tell me how you found out.

I was adopted as a newborn. As for how I found out, my parents told me when I was very little. I can't remember a time when I didn't know. Their reason for telling me so young was that they felt it was better to hear the truth from them, than to have a rude relative or neighbor blurt it out and have me find out by accident. It's never been unusual to me.
I think if you were adopted, you would certainly know by now, especially after you confronted them on it.
OT: My parents jumped through legal hoops for years to adopt me, and they were both smokers. What does being a smoker have to do with wanting a child? (Please understand that I'm not condoning parents' smoking. I've always hated it. I just don't see what it has to do with parental instinct.)

If you want to find out for sure, I guess you could have a DNA test.

Just wait 20 years down the road and then you will see that you are not adopted. You will be wearing glasses, be bald, smell weird, have a beer belly, and a high pitched voice. So give your parents a break, and love them for who they are.

I'm not adopted, but I am not even close to being like my mother. I am very like my father, though. Even if I was adopted(which I'm not because I have my sonograms, birth certificate and everything), they would have told me by now(I'm 14). If you need a way to find out, ask your mom for your birth certificate. If it has your mom's name on it, then you were not adopted. Otherwise, you probably were.

I was not adopted in the traditional sense, but my dad is not my biological father, and my bio-dad's name is not on my birth certificate.
I had suspected early on in my youth, but when I asked if my dad was in fact my dad, they lied to me.
When I was twenty four, my dad and I were at a wake for a family member's funeral, he let it slip that I wasn't his. I was in shock, but I asked my mom about again and she finally fessed up that my dad took me as his own child.
It was a horrible way to find out, and I wish they had told me the truth when I had questions as a child. I've spent the last fifteen years of my life trying to forgive and to understand, and although I am making progress, I'll never forget how it screwed up my life. I had to rediscover everything about who I was because everything up to that point had been a lie.
Ask your mom for your original birth certificate. That should tell you who your birth parents are, or at least your mother.
