I get tired of the debates between Chrianity and Evolution. It inverebly is either-or, black ör white, polarized. I think under the Christian doctrine there is room of both Christianity and Evolution. Why can't it be that God put everything in place and directed each creation to evolve to what it was meant to be? It seems so simple to me and so heretical to some.

I like your ability to think beyond "black and white," so I will offer this humble suggestion:

In the Middle Ages (yeah, "back in the day" as my students say), two great thinkers, one European and one Muslim, made similiar suggestions that it's not EITHER science OR religion (or more specially not EITHER philosophy OR theology). Their names are:

Thomas Aquinas, who devised a concept known as the via media - believing that God granted us two paths to truth; faith and reason, each with its proper place, tasks, and limits; and

Ibn Rushd, known as Averroes in the West, who suggested that science and religon can be used collaboratively so long as both are understood PROPERLY.

And I think that, over seven hundred years ago, he knew the root of the problem - that they both must be understood properly.

I don't know if Creationists care to have a proper understanding of Evolution; but then, I don't know that Evolutionists care to have a proper understanding of Creationism (or Intelligent Design, or whatever it is currently being called), either. It seems that both stake their claims, develop their camps, and then go into battle rather than making attempts to engage in dialogue.

Yet we claim to be so advanced in our modern, technological age. How is it that we cannot see, or choose not to see, what these great mean realized centuries ago?

Tired of the debate? Re-define the problem.

Jesus was a guy. A smart guy. A nice guy. I would even go so far as to say a wise guy. It is a shame that the Faustian machine that is Christianity, has almost nothing to do with an alright fellow, who had a few smart things to say. If you are a listener to the teachings of that smart carpenter from Nazareth, and not a Christian, then of course you will have no problem with common sense.

But if you think only the thoughts you have been told by your shepherd that you must think, then you are a dangerous fool. One of far too many walking about these days.

Mythos and Logos may be twin brothers that fight, but only when one or the other is acting as though he is blind. If you accept your Mythos, AND your Logos, you will have a better idea of your path. I wish you luck in escaping the chains of your shepherd. It starts by you accepting that your myths are there to show you possibilities, and that your logic is there to show you what is really here, to build upon.

You, should read Thomas, It might set you right.

well, if you were to ben an evolutionist than the principals are that Earth and universe has been created by natural causes (explosions, supernovas etc). So based on that theory and facts that science has got it gives a meaning that natural evolution has occured. So according to science it means that God does not exist because it is impossible such a force to create earth or humans out of thin air (such as magic). Or science says that there are no extraordinary forces outhere just natural evolution. SO if you were to be religious person it means that you do not belive in evolution and belive that God does exist. And earth and univerese was created by God. So disagreement starts between two parties. And a there are people who are both that say God has set all the natural things such as AIR, FOOD, WATER cuse without those we as humans can not live. And evolution would exist based on that cuse we have to evolve of accordingly. And when we see how complex humans are and how organs on our bodies are designed to perform at special needs (Noise for smelling, ears for hearing, eyes for seeing things and so on) and there you have it you can either be evolutionit or a christian or both.

I believe alot of what you do. I think one big reason is everybody in some way or another wants to be right, and often comming to a compramise takes that away from ppl. There is scientific evidence of evolution, so I don't get why christains get so uptight.

I also don't get the whole big deal about creationism. There is scientfic evidence to back this up, yet christians want to believe that it all just happend, and science is lying. Personally I do believe that God created the earth, but I believe also that the way it happend is the way science describes.

As a christian it drives me crazy to hear all the constant fighting. I think at some point everybody needs to swallow there own pride, and at least consider the opinions of others. Especially if the opinons have actual facts to back them up.

I also used to think that evolution and creation were compatible until a man named Ken Ham showed me why I was wrong. The Bible teaches that death was the result of sin. If this is true, then there can be no death prior to sin. Sin, according to the Bible only can after man was formed. If man evolved after millions of years, as evolution teaches, then there could have been no deaths for millions of years (this violates the teachings of evolution) or the Bible is wrong. If the Bible is wrong in this one point, then God cannot be trusted with anything. God says that He is infallible and if the Bible is wrong (He also said the He would preserve His word) then God is a liar. So, it has to be either the Bible or evolution. It cannot be both.

Those who are Christian evolutionists believe in what is called theistic evolution (i.e., the belief that God used evolution to create mankind).

So, yes, one can be both and evolutionist and a Christian. However, one cannot be a materialistic evolutionist and a Christian since the latter assumes an atheistic position whereas the former assumes a theistic position.

Believe it or not. Charles Darwin was one.

He believed in creation, but he believed that those creatures "evolved" with time for their specific locations.

I heard this in one of my science courses in college. People are the ones that have changed Darwin's knowledge and thinking into a kind of cult.

Its amazing how things change in time to accomodate a specific person's belief. Even if they are misqouted and writings taken out of context.

There, that's all I am saying.

True religion and true science harmonize, they are 100% compatible. To have science without religion is materialism. To have religion without science is superstition. There are both, both must agree. God created science, and yes, He has designed and maintained and will continue to maintain the evolution of His creations.

Yes there can be both cuz people can beleive whatever they want. I beleive a god or higher being created the basics (like proteins and amino acides) and everything evolved from that.

yes you are right. there is a precreation chapter in the older bibles that has been edited out by the christian church. still found in jewish mystisiam and other religons. that is one reason there are two starts in genisus.
evolution is the adaptation of indivuals to there surounding climents in order to survive and fullil gods command to to orth and multiply and replenish the world.
