First there was The Church.
Then there was the year 1054 when the western branch of The Church declared itself independent and broke away from The Church. We call the former western branch Catholic. (I admit I am oversimplifying the history.) What was left of The Church was the eastern branch which we call Orthodox today.
Then there was Luther. He broke away from the Catholic Church which had broken away from The Church in 1054. This form of Christianity became known as Protestantism, which now has many denominations.
The Orthodox Church and the Catholic Church are not denominations. Only Protestant churches can be called denominations. Although the latter two have deviated from what Orthodox consider true Christian doctrine, they are still considered Christians if they can confess the Nicene Creed.
Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses do not confess the Nicene Creed and cannot be considered Christians. They are, in fact, different religions just as Islam is a different religion.

1. I don't necessarily believe my denomination is the best, but that its interpretations of the Bible and particular focus on how we live out our beliefs fits best with my own way of looking at the world. It is where I can feel supported in my efforts to follow Christ.
2. Any denomination has its strengths and weaknesses; they are all human systems, and all imperfect.

In reality, there are only two positions to take.
1. The Catholics or Eastern Orthodox church is the best. They descended from Christ directly.
2. The Restorationists are correct. (Jehovah's Witnesses, Adventists, and Mormons) They teach that God had to restore his church completely since it had fallen into abomination. The Mormons are the clearest example of these as they believe God personally restored his church.
All of the protestant denominations are clearly in error. They are inventing their own churches and admitting it. The fact that they are interpreting the Bible differently from the Catholics does not strengthen their position.

I don't subscribe to a denomination. I feel that being a Baptist, Lutheran, Methodist, Evangical, whatever, is like being a Republican, Democrat or Independent. It really doesn't matter what political organization you belong to you, you're still an American. I don't care what denomination you are, if you follow Christ, your still a Christian.

i wouldn't say mine is the best because in someone else eyesight it may not, but i will say i enjoy the people in my church and community and not only that, going to church. i think every denomination is good especially if they are worshipping the true living God up in Heaven and his son Jesus.

It doesn't matter what denomination you are. All that matter is that you believe in Jesus.
