You're doing a great job. Don't let anyone scare you into thinking your child should know how to write anything when they start pre-school. Before they start Kindergarten, it's nice if they know how to hold a pencil and some of the letters, but if not, not a problem. She's still got plenty of time before she starts Kindergarten.
I started homeschooling my son when he was 2.5 years old (about 15 minutes a day) because he was frightfully bored and once we started stimulating his brain daily, even for just 15 minutes, he stopped having daily tantrums and was much happier.
My son started Kindergarten last year in a Charter school (public school funded, but can use different curriculum) that uses the Riggs method and it was fantastic! They learn the 71 phonograms (sounds, both single letter and multi-letter) that are in the English language, the 7 common pencil strokes to make all of our letters, and how to write the letters at the same time they are pronouncing the phonograms.
Out of 20 kids, at least half of them didn't know how to write their name and most of THOSE had obviously never held a pencil before (I was in the class helping all day for the first two weeks... I saw this with my own eyes and helped these kids hold their pencil).
The pre-school and Kindergarten teachers are trained to work with both those children who have had extensive pre-training and those who have had little to none. Hopefully, they will have teacher helpers or parent helpers who can help the slower kids, depends on where you live.

she's fine..and you have almost 2 years before she goes to kindergarten for her to learn how to spell her name. relax. different kids learn different things well. It sounds like whe knows a multitude of things that many 3 and a half year olds dont come close to knowing..while she can do her alphabet and numbers in english and spanish...but only knows her circles..My 3 year old daughter can only count to 10 if I'm lucky but she knows all of her shapes including ovals and octagans..so what I'm trying to say is every child is not good at "everything" in the same amount of time...but she will pick up the things she doesent know soooo fast!!! hang in there!

She needs to know her name - in full. She needs to be able to spell it - someone said the complete name, first, middle and last?
What I had done for my sons was spell out their name with those magnetic refrig. letters.. and on small pieces of paper, along with their address, and phone number. The papers I'd place across from the toilet, in the clothes shoot. Hey, it worked. I would also place the papers on one of their dresser drawers, etc, at their eye level.
YOU can teach your child so much more..

yes they need to know how to do that to start kindergarten, they also have to know their address and sometimes phone number, depends on the school. yes she will learn about letters and things there, i don't know that she has to be able to WRITE her name, just say the letters, plus you have lots of time to work with her on it and she's obviously very bright, she'll get it. make a little song out of the letters of her name, used to help my son with his spelling tests.

take it easy, according to your description she's doing real good for her age, don't try to push her so much. See, she knows her abc, just give a little time and be patience. My boy is your daughter's age and yes, you must teach her before but don't go so fast.

well they don't have to know how to spell their name when they go into kindergarden , but its really better if they do because school will be easier on them if their teacher isn't making them right their names over and over till they get it right

Keep it going. When she is in Kindergarden, and you feel that "NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND" forces your child to stay back... THEN HOMESCHOOL.
Take a look at this bright young man.

He didn't start out by being held back.

it's great that your daughter knows that much at that age, but let her be a kid and have fun also, find a good balance between learning and fun
