Someone told me today that Bus(like one you ride to school) is an acronym. What does it mean?

It's not an acronym, it's a shortened word. It was called an "Omnibus" - Latin meaning "for all" - meaning everybody could ride; not a private vehicle; transportation for everybody.

Omnibus. Thus, bus.

an acronym is a word where the letters stand for something, like MADD (Aothers Against Drunk Driving) but i dont know how bus would be, ive never heard of that before
