Gotta ensure regularity of your elimination. Else, toxemia can set in and that can give you a real headache. Vit C, eating fruit, drinking fruit juice can help out.
Tension headaches are different. Exercise and then relaxation can help.
Actually, exercise can help in both instances.
Somebody else mentioned Ibuprofen. That's the only pain reliever that works for me, so I'll second that one too. It's a little hard on kidneys tho, I've heard, so don't make it habitual.
Best wishes...

Yes, water is always what I recommend first- lots of people walk around dehydrated and don't even realize it. By the time you are thirsty, you're dehydrated.
Other good suggestions are to put some calming oil like lavendar into some boiling water and inhale the vapor. It's very soothing.
Acupressure points for headaches include the temples, the third eye (you know, between your eyebrows!) and under your eyes. Depending on where the headache is coming from, your neck and back may also be affecting it.
Try to concentrate on the pain; sometimes it will fizzle away. A nice hot or cold (depending on your preference) washcloth over your eyes while you lay down is also very nice!
There are tons of herbal remedies for headaches, but they are specific to the cause of the pain. I'd suggest doing a little internet research so you can narrow down your choices to fit what type of headache you have.
Good Luck, and feel better!

Headaches do not normally last 24 hours. I don't want to say you should go to a doctor. I think it will go away if you drink water and get some sugar in you. Maybe your hungry. Find out where the pain is. Sometimes its a split headache where its pain on one side of the head, sometimes a tension headache from neck and pain around or behind the ears, or a sinus headache because of the nasal passage. It could be a migraine due to excessive blood flow to the brain, or it can just be pain behind the eyes, that makes you feel the samethings you would feel if you had a headache, or it can just be a regular feeling headache. If sleep has not cured it yet, go do some breathing excercises and take tylenol. stay away from ibprofen or advil. they do not work, or haven't, or i just do not trust them like i'd trust tylenol. I used to get migraines nearly everyday for most of my childhood, but i learned to make it go away, and now i do not get them but 5-7 days a year. sometimes having your focus broken makes it worse. you just want to focus and not worry about it. focus on anything that makes you forget the pain, and it should gradually fade. I would reduce the stress or anxiety, and look for any other bodily symptoms. sometimes not doing anything makes it go away. worrying about the headache might work like a self fulfilling worsening of the headache. somehow your brain will know that you are worried about your headache, and it will actually make you feel worse without you telling it to. Maybe thats it.

Water, so many headaches are due to dehydration. Lie down in a dark room for an hour to see if that helps, AVOID staring at PC screen as that can make headaches a lot worse....

I get terrible headaches sometimes. The Doctor gives me a pill that contains caffeine, aspirin and a pain medicine, I do know that caffeine allows the blood to flow more easily through the head and the asprin will be good for the pain.

Twenty--four hours with a headache unrelieved with medication requires medical attention, even if it's due to stress or sinuses you should have felt some relief with medication! You need to see a Doctor!
