Has anyone else noticed that the most close minded answers are followed by. God Bless?

i'm not saying [everyone] in a literal sense, but its seems that Yahoo! is indirectly proving that people of religion give uneducated answers.

Answers that are not though out or researched, backed up by what's written in a bible, or just not properly argued from all perspectives.

This may also answer the question "why some people are so dumb".

Do you think that religion imposes on higher thought? and why do people post scripts from a bible to argue their points? Can't they think for themselves? or is that a sin too? remember that people that can't distinguish right from wrong [themselves] are clinically insane.

Not believing in anything is still believing in something (nothing). It is still a belief. Every answer given should be taken for the merrit of the answer and not for what someone believes or does not believe. Just because someone gives an answer that you do not agree with does not make that person dumb. They are giving an answer based upon their experiences.

Some people may have more experiences and are able to have the ability to do more research on a subject. (i.e. think and research it for themselves)

Being or knowing right from wrong is a very subjective matter.

It is those who always think they are superior in questions and answers and who are very judgemental in others who are the insane ones who have not learned tolerance.

Just don't take everthing others say seriously. Although maybe if you open up a bit you might learn something. Just because it may have a religious tone to it "may not" (emphases here) be always wrong.

no,i noticed a lot more anti christian questions and answers that are the most closeminded .their are some from christian ones that are close minded that are not followed by god bless. i am chrisitan i do not answer quoting bible or pastors and so on said i post with what i think or feel.if i give an example i give it from many different perspectives (mine, others etc...)just because you do not like the answer or think it is close minded doesnt mean the answerer is uneducated truthfully it just shows how picky some people can be .yes people should think for themselves .form your own opinion on things but with any body who does this no one has the right to then make insults or tirades against people who do not think or feel or act the same as them.there are a lot of things that are questionable with the bible there are a lot of things questionable with other religions but science cant always explain how everything came about either there for you basically go with what you believe .okay put it this way some people said god didnt create the heaven and the earth the big bang theory did okay couldnt that possibly be gods work it did not say how he created it or when .but in the same sanse also where did the big bang theory come together how did the things that went bang come from how did they get nmade .no one can explain everything sometimes you just got to believe in something and quite frankly i do not care what or who u believe in just stop critising the ones who do believe in god .i know what is right and wrong i do not need the bible to tell me what is .i can make that all on my own.people post scripts to back up their thoughts on the subject.no i do not think religion imposes on higher education there are lots of very smart people who are christians.as to looking at all perspectives a lot of people do look at others but when you ask a question on yahoo you are asking many people their thoughts on something .so you are going to get that one sided answer from every person whether xian, athiest , agnostic,etc.....because when you ask you are asking for our opinion or our knowledge on the subject at hand.and as to the think for them selves well why dont u think for yourself do not ask any more questions here .research it somewhere /way else .and just rememeber when faced with a question on anything you are gonna take it from the place you learned it from . if my answer is not to your approval okay fine i am here taking care of my kids so i keep coming back to it to finsih answering it .

Yes, religion imposes on higher thought. In Christianity's case, it begins with the Tree of Knowledge. Adam and Eve had one of two choices. Chose not to eat of the tree, and they forfeit their freedom of choice. Chose to eat of the tree, and they are disobedient and thus die out of favor. The Tree of Life is taken out of reach, but continues to be the ultimate goal. The fruits of this tree are only granted to the most obedient followers thus creating a subserviant model for mankind. Knowledge and information are associated with temptation and the serpent who is said to be the devil.
From the Garden of Eden to today, the control of information and knowledge continues to be the foundation of global religious/political control. Examples are everywhere. Weren't some people killed in Africa this past week because they were watching the World Cup?

In regards to SOME quoting scripture, there are two dynamics that are going on (this may be what rubs people the wrong way). The first dynamic is that by quoting from the undisputed champion of sources people use unearned God power. You can't fight it. The second dynamic is that the person is letting you know that you are not a complete person without this self evident truth - it's so simple - it's right there, see.

Anyway - cheers.

Hmm, these are interesting observations. Since you've already stated that the universal declaration of 'everyone' doesn't apply, by your own admission the following points must be observed:

1) Some who have a religious bent are not limited in their intelligence by their submission to God.
2) Post scripts from the Bible to confirm (argue) a point doesn't denote an inability to think for themselves anymore than the reliance on an existing language (as opposed to one you've concocted on your own) implies illiteracy.

It might also be noted that those who proclaim to be Christian have historically founded more schools and organizations of higher thought (universities, hospitals, economic franchises, etc.) than any other western, modern group. So, by sheer comparison one might argue that without those who adhere to Christianity the world would be less 'modern' than it is currently.

God Bless!

OMG that was so freaky! I was just about to post a question asking how many Christians truly think they are open minded and if religious tolerance should be more widely practiced but I accidentally click on your question instead... wow weird. I am really sick of reading "well see this is wrong because the bible told me so" and "this is an abomination because God said" and the classic " creation is the truth because nothing would be here without it." WHAT!?!?! Please remember that if you feel the need to answer a atheist inspired question that a simple "the bible" or "because God" will not work, we don't believe.

In following with your observation, I'd like to point out that most answers in general reflect a level of 'close-mindedness'. In reality, as people gain experience in their lives, their experience presents them with criteria which they use to form the boundries of their thinking. Some will say that denying the possibility of a "God" is close-minded. Others would say that citing the Bible as an authoritative source is close minded.

In reality, we tend to think of those who will not listen to our perspective of an issue as "close-minded", regardless of which side of the issue we are on. What I think you have stumbled on to is actually a 'disease' found within many faiths called 'easy-believeism' or 'lazy-believeism'. This occurs when people step into their faith in ignorance, or rather, without examining both sides of the discussion first.

As a Christian, if I cannot answer intelligently within AND without of the framework of Scripture, then I am not properly prepared to answer the question, and I either do more research or just don't answer.

Religion is not what imposes on higher thought - it is technology. It has produced lazy people in all areas of understanding. Some of the 'religious' only post answers from the Bible because they have chosen to limit their sources in an effort to maintain a level of purity. If they are so weak in their faith that they can't discuss their faith from within and without, then they probably shouldn't be involved in this forum. The 'sin', as far as the Bible is concerned, is speaking of things which you have no understanding of, Spiritual or secular.

Those were my thoughts. Now , the Bible:

"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asks you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:"
1 Peter 3:15

"If you think it evil to serve God, then choose you this day who you will serve;..... As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord."
Joshua 24:15

Of course religion doesn't impose on higher thought. Many people rely on religion alot more than others, but that is their personal decision. Einstein was one of the most religious people you could have known, most of his work was done in his attempt to prove the existence of God and God's role in the creation of the universe. Today Einstein is literally a synonym for intelligence.

Accusing someone you disagree with of being close-minded is as old and tired of an argument as the world itself. People have used it on both sides of every issue since the beginning of time. Come up with something more original.

As for why Christians quote from or cite passages from the Bible, it's because they believe it is an objective source of authority. They're no less intelligent than anyone else who quotes from or cites a source whose authority they respect.

There are intelligent and unintelligent people in all categories.

I believe that it has to do with the mentality of the person. If you're being annoyed by someone then of course when they do something it's going to seem annoying to you. When you're around someone who makes you laugh a lot it things that they say make you laugh, but it wouldn't if someone else were to say it. It's this same thing. You're used to thinking the religious are uneducated or in some way foolish or ignorant so it's what you see. It makes sense.

Huh? Mind telling us what planet you're from?

God bless generally means that person wishes you well. I am dating myself here, but Red Skelton used to say it all of the time at the end of his show. I used to like that...it's a sweet way of him saying he appreciated his audience and wished them the best.

I think there is a lot of prejuidice against anyone who displays their spirituality or religious thought in someway. Being religious or spiritual does not mean someone is dumb.

I have no clue why you mixed this all together: being moral and being intelligent. Because someone quotes the bible just means they are presenting information that they feel justifies their point...whether or not YOU agree with it.

I'm not a very religious person but do believe in God. I think it's a sin myself to offhandedly stereotype...
