That's a tricky question, because "life" means many things. Trees, bugs, dogs; these things are alive, but not in the way that you really mean; after all, you'd probably be disappointed to find out life after was life as a tree. Even so, that is kind of what happens as your body decomposes and becomes part of nature.
As for some kind of soul or identity, these are manifestations of our fear of and grasping to self. It seems we work our whole life to establish a personality; we fear that it will be lost when we pass. Basically, it will. No kind of energy is destroyed, but it does not remain the same forever, either: energy changes form. It is transformed over and over again. After all, that tree, bug, dog and all of us are, on an subatomic level, made from the same substances.
When people say "is there life after ", they are talking primarily about "life as we know it". The simple answer then, is no- even if you believe in reincarnation it's not quite the life after most people envision. The concepts of heaven put out by most religions are mainly just that- concepts and metaphors to allude to a higher state of consciousness or reality.
Life and are not really beginning or end, just phases of transformation.

no there isnt life after death. when a person dies, he ceases to exist. death is the opposite of life. the dead don't see or hear or think, not one part of us survives the death of the body because we don't posses an immortal soul or spirit. Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6, and 10 says "(5) For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten. (6) Also, their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they have no portion anymore to time indefinite in anything that has to be done under the sun. (10) All that your hand finds to do, do with your very power, for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in She'ol, the place to which you are going" She'ol is another word for grave. and similarly Pslams 146:4 says that when a man dies, "his thoughts do perish." We are mortal and do not survive the death of our body. The life we enjoy now is like the flame of a candle. When the flame is put out, it does not go anywhere. It is simply gone.

There is life after death only for those around the one who died who are still alive. Death is a final end. It's just that human individuals have a hard time accepting a future that doesn't have them in it, so they make up stories.

It depends on your belief. I believe that there is a life after death. Almost all the religion indicates that there is a life after death.
