I have a nice bottle of Porto. I've never drank wine at home. How would I store the bottle after opening?

To b more precise, what do I do with what's left? I never drink more than a small glass.

A product that helps preserve opened wine is a can of nitrogen. You spray it into the bottle and re-cork. The nitrogen displaces the air (which has oxygen). Keep it cool. It should be drinkable up to one year after opening using this technique.

Port is much less fragile than non-fortified wines. First, close it with a cork. Air damages any wine, even fortified port. Second, move it to the smallest glass container possible, for the same reason - you want the least air in the bottle possible. Finally, keep it cool. Ideally, 50 - 60 degrees, but anything above freezing is fine, so long as you warm it back to 60 degrees or so before drinking.

get an air vacuum wine pump at any wine store, their inexpensive and you get a few caps with it so you can store a few different bottles at once. it sucks all the air out, and you can use it over and over with the same bottle. this should solve your dilema!
