Yes yes and yes. Being gay is completely natural and the thanks for homophobia can only go to religion. It is entirely possible that the wording could have been changed! What people don't understand is even if God did tell his people what to write HUMANS still put together, translated, and printed the bible. Have we not heard of human error, and do we not know that humans can be very evil and vindictive. It's sad but very true.

Based on a segment I saw on Sixty Minutes dealing with identical twins, one appearing to be gay and one not, I would say it is not genetic, as identical twins have the same genes. However, I do think it is biologically based and has to do with hormone levels especially testosterone and estrogen. I certain DO NOT believe it is a "choice" whether one is gay or straight. Also, these kids are being brought up in the same home, the same way by the same parents, so I don't think it has anything to do with the way they are brought up.
You are just clouding the issue with the bible god and monks etc. Thats a whole different issue.

In identical twin studies, sometimes one twin is gay and one is straight. They have identical DNA.
There is no predetermined gender preference. There are certainly people who are at high risk to become drug addicts but they don't have to fall down into that path of behavior.
There might be people with a tendency towards homosexuality but they are not forced into that behavior. Just as one identical twin is gay and one is straight there are other factors that contribute to being gay.
If there really were genetic tendencies to complete homosexuality, natural selection would eliminate these from our DNA over the course of 5 million years.
Why is homosexuality much more common in Taiwan than China?
Why is homosexuality much more common in Thailand than Laos?
When society accepts or even encourages homosexuality, it becomes more common.

I think it's too early to say what accounts for some people being homosexual but I do think it's clearly not a choice - Who could choose to stop being attracted to the opposite sex and start being attracted to the same sex instead? I know I couldn't. It seems to be just a natural variation in human nature that some people are gay. I don't regard it as a moral issue at all, and they deserve exactly the same rights as heterosexuals, including the right to marry the person of their choice.

Your question really isn't a Religion and Spirituality question.
Whether being gay is or isn't genetic is for science, not religion, to figure out.
My religion, Roman Catholicism, is silent on the issue of what makes a person gay.
It has no teaching on the causes of a sexual orientation, because that's a scientific matter and not a religious one.
Catholicism does have a teaching on homosexual behavior though -- because the behavior is a moral issue, that falls under the realm of religious teaching.
But sexual ORIENTATION does not.

hmm, I dont think that homosexuality is geneticly based but more like influenced. I cant say anything about the penguins but I believe that how a person is brought up and where they live and how they reacted to these things makes them homosexual. I dont belive that you could catch the "homo gene", thats silly.

Mostly genetic. For instance, the corpus callosum is larger in gay males than in hetero males. As in all nurture versus nature arguments, both have some influence.

Nope.
The gay lifestyle is an abomination to God. This means it’s disgusting an abhorrence, a feeling of repugnance or loathing.
Those who promote this lifestyle have a darkened heart and have become fools by their own perverted mind. Their acts are a disgrace of vile affections doing unseemly passions of infamy. Vain in their imaginations they are morally wicked. They defile themselves through the lusts of their own hearts. It’s indecency, dishonour, and unclean.
But they can’t reserve this life style or death style to themselves, they want to destroy others by promoting it. They want special rights and ungodly unions recognized as marriage.
Most people could be tolerant as long as this vile death style was not so public. But by promoting this abomination it is impossible to be tolerant, unless you are deceived. Because this would be tolerance of destroying of souls and destruction of our society. Being blinded into acceptance of this repugnant death style will cease God’s blessings.
Now everyone is a sinner and falls short. Christ has set us free from the bondage of sin. Upon repentance we are forgiven. Our sins can be blotted out no more to be remembered. That’s the whole purpose of this flesh life. To defeat Satan (death) legally and to offer salvation to whomsoever.

Being gay is a choice, just as one chooses to engage in any other deviant behavior. I mean even if the desire is for another person of the same sex is there, one must make a decision not to act on that desire.
