Depends on your definitions.

Short answer, for most: All Wiccans are witches. Some witches are not Wiccan.
Just like all guitarists are musicians, but not all musicians play guitar.

Mike Nichols claims they are the same; his article is at http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Forum/7280/wvsw.html
But his definition of "Wicca" and "witch" are both different from what many of the current books & websites are saying.

For most modern pagans--Wicca is one form of religious witchcraft. All Wiccans are witches, because witchcraft is part of their religious practices. Casting a circle, consecrating their tools, drawing down the moon--these are acts of witchcraft, even if they don't do anything like "spells."

Witchcraft is also a spiritual practice of other religions (like Voodoo, Ifa, Candomble, Huna, and some forms of shamanism, and many others), and has, through dilution, become a non-spiritual practice in some areas, so there are atheist and agnostic witches as well as religious witches.

Wicca is a religious following.....and as I understand it witches are people who use magick, cast spells etc. Therefore you can be a Christian and a witch...or be a member of any other religion and be a witch too. Spell casting is not required to be Wiccan, it just usually goes along with it. Not all Wiccans call themselves witches.

Just a side note: Male witches are also called witches.

Wicca is the religious aspect of it, Witchcraft on the other hand is pure magick. You can be a Wiccan without being a witch if you follow the teachings of the religion but don't really practice too much magick, on the other hand you can practice Witchcraft without really giving two sh*ts about the Goddess & God and be a witch without being Wiccan.

Wiccans are witches, but not all witches are Wiccan. It is similar to all Christians are not considered Catholics. There are many different types of witches..... too many to list here. I am considered an eclectic solitary witch. I am not Wiccan, but follow my own beliefs and I do not belong to a coven.

Yes to both.

Witchcraft is natural magic. There are many people from all religions who could be called witches. Wiccans aren't the only people who practice witchcraft nor are they the only people who claim the title of "witch."

Wicca is a religion. Though it embraces the practice of witchcraft, is is not mandatory. There are some Wiccans who don't practice witchcraft yet are still strong in the practice of their faith.

From my understanding (from past experience...) you can be a witch but not nessesarily wiccan...but if you're wiccan, you are a witch.

Wiccan is sort of the equivalent to "denomination" within the Christian faith.
