Sure, Columbo did it all the time, raisins, chocolate bars, he even asked a police officer to hold out a tire iron once that was a murder weapon....the officer held it out...he thought Columbo wanted to see it, Columbo reached into his rain coat and pulled out a hard boiled egg and cracked it open on the tire iron. If Columbo can do it...so can you!!!!

Why wouldn't you just sit at your desk to eat? It's distracting to be trolling around the office with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in one hand, and a copy of the Lintner file in the other.

It's okay to discreetly eat it at your desk, but I would not say it's okay to walk around with it. Think about it. You walk into a professional office and everyone's walking around eating food. Does that strike you as very professional?

As long as it's not popcorn, fish, or anything else that smells strongly, I think it's fine.
We had a lady at my last job who would bring left over fish for lunch at least twice a week You want to talk about stink...oh my God that was nasty, lol.

Sure, as long as it's not steak and lobster. Otherwise, you have to bring enough for the entire office.

If it is informal, usually yes.
I would ask your supervisor the policy first however.
