As they get older we and they aready know everything we want them to we tend to practice less with them. I do it also. I am guilty of not doing as much as I should with my 9 years old.
He is so smart and well behaved I tend to forget to ask him to work for stuff sometimes.
I try and make mine work for the stuff they get like dinner time they sit and wait until I tell them that it is ok to eat. They do it.
We work in the field almost 5 days a week as I have Weimaraners and we hunt with them So they get alot of that but the basic stuff I do not do as much as when they are young.
Just try to implement a little session once per day and I am sure your girl will shape right up.
Good luck.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://bitly.im/aL0xC
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

My dad trained my then 10-year-old collie to bark whenever he wanted anything. He's become quite a pain about it!
Older dogs can be trained, but they might require more patience than younger dogs. They do tend to get a bit crotchety as they age.
Positive reinforcement always works better than negative reinforcement, so try giving out treats when your dog does what you tell him to. And be consistent! Don't let him get away with unacceptable behavior. Always correct him.

Yes, you can teach an old dog new tricks. I suggest you attend a dog obidence class, and explain to the instructor the problems you are having. It will take a little more effort than with a young dog.
