my 3 yrs old shih tzu have the highest maintenence, he will not just eat the dry food alone, he will need me to mix it with those wet food and i have to always change the flavor, other wise he rather starve himself, everytime he go do the potty, he has to pee/poop in 4-5 different spots, etc. how can i get him to cut back on those requirements??

i give him iams dry dog food with iams pouches with those meat chunck! he's not fixed, i cant because its just too sad!!

that is so true, they do stop at every tree to go pee!! although they have no more pee but still they gotta lift their leg.

I had a shih tzu when I was growing up, My mom had to make him a rice and ground beef mixed with eggs dish! And yes they stop at every tree to go pee....I'd do anything to have him now I miss him sooo much :(

We have 2 shih tzus at our house. I don't think they are high maintenance. You do have to brush them daily and clean their eyes out and keep their ears clean. They are prone to allegies. We take them and get them groomed every 6-8 weeks. We feed them Blue Buffalo food and give them healthy treats.

Get him food that has no corn in it, that's what makes him poop 4-5 times. Put him on Wellness, Eagle Pack, Canidae, Go! , food that has no corn in it, but good nutrition. If you can't find him food without corn, make sure that the corn is not one of the first three ingredients.

decrease the wet food. Buy high quality dry food (purina).
Is your dog fixed? Most dogs that are fixed will only potty in one spot.

I agree with Baa Baa. Cut out the wet foods and absolutely no table scraps !!! No other drinks than water. He will not starve himself. Also get him neutered if he's not already.

There is a dog food that will help your dog from going number 2 too often, but I don't remember the name of it...Try Pet-co...and your local pet store...Explain the situation.

Feed him once a day, he might not eat at first but he will learn, just keep it up. You need to restart potty training, try rereading up on it.
