In next few days coming upon me, I am scheduled for a psychiatric evaluation for a position as a Correctional Officer. I have nothing to be worried about, but part of me wonders what kind of questions will the Psychologist asks? What are they looking for?
According to others, if you do not make good eye contact, it is an indication of fear for reality.
It is this kind of staff that has me worry a bit. Do you have any advises?

I was a police officer and went through the same interview. Relax, be yourself, and don't let the interviewer goad you in any way. Their job is to find some sort of weakness with you and see if you get angry, admit to drug use, have some sort of dark secret, etc. If you attempt to thwart them by using techniques such as making too much eye contact, not enough, speaking in a monotone, they will sense that right away, and may even call you on it. If you are a normal person, you have nothing to worry about. Good Luck.

I am just a little bit concerned that you have even posed this question. I wonder if you have chosen a career that is not really suitable for you. Maintaining eye contact is, I would think, a must for any Correctional Officer. If you have an inherent tendency to avoid prolonged eye contact, it could prove dangerous in this particular field.

I could tell you not to worry but we all know that is impossible for any job interview. Not only does eye contact tell whether you are telling the truth but it also shows strength and confidence. If you go in there trying to second guess what they're looking for you may seem weak or suspicious. Just go in there and look them in the eyes and be honest. If they turn you down then you will know it was their loss. Good luck.

yes, i have advice. QUIT LISTENING TO THE CRAP.
Eye contact for example: there is a normal (expected) amount of eye contact, based on culture and country. A trained psychiatrist ( or some sort of trained interviewer) is going to notice if you make way too much eye contact - which is typical of people who are lying.
there are going to pick you or not. It is better if they make that decision on the real you and your real, normal behavior, than if they make that decision based on who you are not.
Please consider this scenario: you try to give the right answers, the answers they want, or that you think they want. And you aren't chosen. Aren't you going to feel awful? Worse than if you had been yourself?

Be honest, eye contact is important. Drifting eyes to the right mean your searching for "memory" or legit answer, drifting to the left means your searching your "creativitiy" or lying. Just be you. Good luck!
