Using a higher cocoa content chocolate (70% or higher) will give you more 'bang for your buck' in terms of tryptophan and phenylethylamine (thought to cause the addictiveness of chocolate), and so you will eat less calories (and less amount of chocolate).
You could also try substitute some or all of the chocolate for coffee, although this is not recommended in children, or to an excessive degree (caffeine itself can be addictive and dangerous in high quantities).

it's hard to stop cravings, but fruit is a sweet substitute for chocolate. if you have to have chocolate, eat dark chocolate instead of other kinds because that tends to be healthier. you can also try the new sugar free chocolate they have now

A craving for chocolate usually means you are magnesium-deficient! Isn't that handy to know?
(Or you could always rationalize -- my favorite vegetable is chocolate. It IS made from cocoa beans, you know.)
