ruby, if you are both over the age of 21. what worked for me as a first date or rather the first stop on a first date is a comedy club. then dinner or what ever afterwards, but the comedy always left me and my dates (when single , of course) in high spirits and having fun then at dinner it also works as a nuetral subject to talk about ( never the akward pause) the best dates are always with out a doubt when you can see your date laughing ..... hope it helps have fun

If you go to dinner first, it gives the both of you time to socialize. Most people end up at the movies afterward because it's convenient, inexpensive, a shared experience. An afternoon picnic on a Saturday afternoon, sounds corny, but is something I've enjoyed with my girlfriend (who is now my wife of fifteen years). In fact many dates usually revolve around food, or have some sort of meal involved. The key is, try to do something that both of you will enjoy. It's a bad idea to take someone who is terrified of heights sky diving, let alone on a first date.

Someplace she'll remember and makes me stand out...like a street race where I let her be the driver, or maybe an amusement park where I can win her a gigantic stuffed hippopotomus with a pink fluffy tail. An interesting resturant is always a good idea. I like places with a bit of history like the Ol' Ale House Inn in Olney, MD or the old light house resturant in Charleston, SC where Black Beard the Pirate used to hang around. The whole dinner and a movie thing is very played out, and you don't get a chance to chit chat with the pretty lady in the darkened quiet of the movie. Movies are places to fool around and make out.

Depends on how well you know the person. If you want to talk, dinner's good. If you know each other, a movie's nice and romantic. Putt putt is something fun you could do, or go to an amusement park (if you live by one). There's plenty to do that will give you something to do while you spend time together.

Movies is a good choice...since you don't have to constantly talk, (this being your first date and all, they may not be a lot of topics of conversation between you), and after the movie, you can discuss it, any aspect of the movie can be a nice filler for uncomfortable silences...
