Consigned to the dustbin as the concept was an obvious non-starter from the word go. The person who coined the word "multi-culturalism " would have ended up in a loony bin 150 years ago. Too many examples have proven the idea is nonsense. The much-maligned Enoch Powell of yore has been shown to be right time and time again.

We're still working on it. The "global village" concept cannot really be achieved until we all speak one language, and there are plenty of barriers to that. We all know it would be English, but too many people hate that idea, so we are stalled.
Personally, I don't think a global village is all that hot an idea anyway. It would rely on too much uniformity, and I prefer liberty.

question too much of an idiom, but the concept honestly will just end up in papers or in the minds of the the few. The political world may not necessarily favour the idea as it has a lot of loses than benifits

Its still in the works, don't worry it will be a reality sooner then you think. The problem is here in America we will lose our sovereignty.
