There is no way to beat it FAST. You can begin to gain some control of it within a few weeks with the method outlined on the following website. It is a little pricey, but if given the chance, I would spend the money all over again. Before the program, I was depressed for 2 years. I was nearing the end of my rope one day (contemplating suicide) and someone referred me to the website. Check it out. It might help you the same way it helped me.

Like somebody else said, this isn't a problem that can be dealt with fast.

First, you should speak with a doctor and explain everything that you've said here, and anything else that you might've left out. There are some meds out there that can help you cope with the problem, and without a diagnosis from a doctor, you can't get them.

I suffered from depression in the past, and was on Paxil for over a year. It helped. You should also have someone, besides your doctor, who you feel comfortable with telling your problems to. Somebody who's willing to lend an ear and listen is also very crucial.

Many people don't like their jobs, myself included, but we do it anyway to pay the bills.

Well Bill, i can understand were your coming from. However don't let depression get the best of you. Sit down and make a plan for yourself. Think about were your business has been and were it needs to go. Think about how long you've been in business. When you set up your plan account for finance, wages, expenses, anything that will help your business. You said you work for yourself, you may want to think about hiring some help, expand, and advertise your business. If you are advertising your business, advertise it more. And what you've done for yourself is "FINANCIAL PLANNED". Having your own business is not easy but very rewarding. I have to say i wish i were in your shoes because i work for a company. I am making them rich, were as you can make yourself rich. Hope this helped.

Over the last five years I had begun to have increasingly withdraw into a downward spiral of depression..

But now with the method I can fully focus my energy and thoughts into a decisive line on how to make my life better constantly. And it works like magic! I'm beginning to attract people to me once again and things have just been looking up since then.

I wouldn't say your depressed, just in a slum....depression is something people live with there whole lifes and there is no way to beat it or get rid of it....just ways to deal with it....I know Ive had it my whole life...the only advice I can give you is to maybe talk with someone...a therapist, a close friend, or a great listening family member...someone that can help you sort out your feelings and maybe help you find ways to get around all the troubles your going through....I wish you all the luck in the world.

If there was an answer to this I would have already tried it. You've got the right start. You obviously are not happy with your job. Sign up with your local job & family services. Tell them what kind of field you're interested in and what pay you want to start out with. Then I would look into professional help. Medication or counseling can help temporarily until you get back on your feet,

Is there anything else but work in your life?
I am sure you are amazingly tired after work, but is there a chance you can go out... join some sort of support group.
I'd contact a local hospital to see if there are any groups for men of your age.
You haven't mentioned a family, but if there's no one, women "of a certain age" would love to get to know a guy who is a hard worker.
Also find out if there's any training available to get you ready for another line of work. It sounds as if you are ready for a change. Contact aarp to see if there's anything in your area.
You have the interest and the drive and the motivation to make a change. Go for it.

you are having anxiety attacks. very common and nothing to worry about. you can think yourself out of it or talk yourself down... kind of like stopping a sneeze or getting rid of hiccups. just be calm and don't hyperventilate. a person that is talking out loud calmly cannot hyperventilate.. so either talk or breath in a bag to keep yourself from passing out. contact the midwest center for anxiety and depression... their program helped me with my depression and chronic anxiety so much that it changed my life completely within a few days :) hang in there and don't be afraid, a lot of people have overcome this. it is really scary, but just know that you are not alone and it is fixable.

Seek counselling. depression doesn't yield quickly.

"The Feeling Good Book" by Dr. David Burns is industrial strength help.

"The Six Pillars of Self Esteem" by Dr. Nathaniel

You really can't put a timeline on feeling better- the resulting anxiety tends to defeat the purpose. It sounds really stupid, but if you can find time to volunteer, at church or whatever, or even just talk sometimes to less fortunate people, it really does seem to help a little. Good luck!!!
