Agreed. But there's no way of proving, nor disproving god. After all, we all could be Jim Carey in the Truman Show. It's an elaborate scheme to keep us in the dark and dick us around.

The dude's answer below me states that we were created for god's pleasure. Does god think that altar boys were created for the sexual desires of god's ministry?

Because we are god. we are little parts of that big, bright spark-the creator, the All; And we created the planet Earth to teach the soul about duality. Female and Male. Black and White. Good and Bad.And until we can reach the awareness that we really are all parts of one another, we will remain in the cycle of reincarnation, until we have got it right. That somewhere, inside male there is female, and inside female there is male. That how we treat others affects how we get treated. Karma and such. I think it is a great thing to live as an atheist, at least for a while, because without God, then there is no Satan, and every thing that happens to you happened because you caused it. I spent 7 years that way, and it empowered me. I am a Wiccan of first degree (here we have the duality, Lord and Lady, that neither is more important or powerful!) and I have also studied buddhism/zen; I was raised a Catholic, they told me I was going to hell for praying to Mary....when I moved to the bible belt.
And there are intellegent aliens out there, they are done with Earth and have learned the lessons this place has to teach. They don't need religion because they are closer to our Creator. They are our big brothers, man! I do kinda think that we created God in our own image, but to more primitive people, God must have fingers and toes, right? Don't we evolve every day? Try telling a person that God is nothing but a big ball of love energy and see what kind of response you get today, much less 200 years ago.

I definitely believe in God and definitely do NOT believe that God revolves around us. We are but a small part of the everything that God created.

This is my belief:

We are here so that God can experience God's self.

God is absolute. In this state there are no contradictions and no relativity.

God knows what God is, but the knowing of a thing and the experiencing of it are two entirely different things. For example you know what ice cream is, but experiencing the taste of it is different (and SO much better) than just intellectually knowing that it is frozen cream and sugar.

God created life as we know it so that God could experience God's self in the world of relativity through us, who are each an individuation of the whole.

God does not judge us for our actions...after this physical incarnation ends we will return to the spiritual dimension and decide if we want to stay or experience another physical incarnation. This is how we serve God.

I believe that God is the formless, genderless, omnipresent, eternal energy source which is the process of life itself. Not a being, or an old guy with a long white beard and flowing robes sitting in a throne in some heaven in outer space somewhere. We are each an individuation of God, created of the same matter as God.

Again, it all leads back to the "Big Bang" theory. I did not create some delusional character in my head and call Him God.
The big bang does not make any sense to me because it is impossible for something to come from nothing. You can not sit in an empty room and expect furniture to just appear as we all know that doesn't happen. And if history repeats itself, that then would make it possible. But it doesn't happen that way, does it?
It takes a living breathing vessel with intelligence to cause something to happen otherwise, anything would just be appearing before our eyes without a wish or a command. It would get out of control.
So ..... "God" created us as His masterpiece artwork simply out of pleasure just the same as an artist paints a picture for hanging on a wall "out of pleasure".
Now doesn't that make more sense?

I believe the simplest answer is vanity and pride. These are human traits, we were made in the image of God so logically they are God traits as well.

If God is vain then of course God would create something like God's self and appreciate it and value it above all other things.

If God is prideful God would never admit that God's greatest creation, the one made in God's image is flawed. So no alternative would ever be recognized or created.

Now then God has made it clear that these are not the most positive traits so God encourages us to overcome them and in that we are even more like God because it implies God also has/is/needs to overcome these traits.

BTW lightning just struck

You answer your own question.
Let's say you are right, and man did invent God in his own image. Obviously, God would be most interested in us, as we are his creator and his sustainer.
Now, let's say your wrong, and God created man in His own image. Again, the reason for His interest is obvious.
A better question might be, presuming there is intelligent life somewhere out there, where do they fit into our picture, and where do we fit into theirs?
Bottom line - none of us are going to know the answer until after we are dead, and so far, no one has ever been able to come back and fill in the rest of us, so you have to settle for faith.

To begin with, God did not make us in his image.
God is the laws of physics.
We are an energy form.
Energy interfaces with forces to produce creation.

As people, we put compassion into an otherwise
empty exsistence.
Also, we experiment.
All sorts of new and interesting things happen
when we move energy around.

However, energy is still ruled by laws of physics.

We are his spirit children. We received bodies while here on earth and were to overcome Sin and Death. In our journey toward progression he wishes for us to return and live with him and inherit all he has. He loves us. He wants us to trust him and live by faith. Something we couldn't completely understand before we came here, which is learned and will be beneficial for us to have in the eternities. It is his work and glory to bring to pass the immortal and eternal life of man.

God does not revolve around us. We are his creation, he created us for his pleasure. He does not need us, but we need him. We do not deserve him, but he gives us the opportunity to choose to be with him.
