what process is used in applying resin over poster and what must the poster be mounted on

do you mean 2-part epoxy resin that looks like a layer of glass when it's done? If so, you'll need to adhere the poster to a non-flexible ground, (masonite, mdf etc) then build a "dam" (use plasticine or putty) around the edge to keep the resin from dripping off the edge... then just mix n pour. Peel off the dam after the resin is completely set.

Are you mixing your own pigments with the resin or has it already been added?
If so find glass jars to separate the mixtures.( colors). I used Fruit jars and very slowly add the pigment to the resin then seal it quickly so that it does not oxidize on you before use. Let settle after a good stir a few hours and then shake well before use. Keep away from drying. Reisen hardens and tends to cake allot with pigments. Make sure the pigments are powdery. Use a Len seed oil to smooth it out like oil paints on your canvas or surface. It should work well for you. It did for the old masters.
I would mount my poster board on wood such as plywood.
