Let me put it in simpler terms. Why try so hard to prove that you are not racist? So what if you are called racist, why should it bother you if you know you're not? Trying to prove you are not racist only makes people suspicious of you being one.

Because, everybody in this country is afraid of that word as if it were a cancer or something. Racism has nothing to do with illegal immigration. Breaking the laws of this country is the issue. If the US won't enforce the laws it made, then the laws need to be changed. But both sides are flinging the racist name around like it is a real issue. It is not. The issue is controlling the border just like Mexico does against Central and South Americans. Are they racist? By the way, your second comment makes you kind of hateful.

I could not care less if you think I am racist, if there were 20 million British, flooding into our country illegally I would be against them to. This is more then just the huge drain illegal immigrants cause, its more then simply a subculture, basically a new slave class, working off the books for dollars a day, its more then just a border that allows millions of people across it every year, unchecked and unknown at a time when terrorists would do anything to get into our country and attack. Its all that and more, it has very little to do with their race.

Because they are always being accused of it. This is not about race. I am sick of this damn race card coming up on every issue.
It's a bloody cop out. Nothing legal to use so lets go with the race card. Everybody needs to accept the law etc etc and do the right thing. If I had a black neighbour I did not like it would be because I am racist, If I had a white neighbour I did not like Ah well! I am white by the way....it's all BS. There are race issues but not everything is about race. Get educated and get rid of the ignorance.

Because, that is basically the only argument people have against them.
By definition, ILLEGAL means AGAINST THE LAW. There is no issue of race here, it is a matter of the law. There are ways to legally immigrate to the United States, so there is no need for some selfish person to illegally hop the border. People who do this are taking advantage of the American economy, and systematically weakening it by not paying taxes, or not finding employment legally.

It doesn't bother me if people call me a racist for being against illegal immigration from anywhere by anyone ... what bothers me is that people who constantly pull the race card only seem to have that one card to play ... the moment anyone has something SENSIBLE to say in favor of illegal immigration, I'll be the first to listen ... btw. I'm still waiting ...

Because they are under attack by the illegal aliens and those who support them with this nonsense attack that they are racist.
We have immense illegal immigration from Central and Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle-East, as well as South America and Central America. Are they racest for not wanting their own race to enter illegally? Some of the Mexicans are trying to make this all about them, and damaging the reputations of all the LEGAL immigrants of Mexican heritage in our country. That's wrong.
One more time: It is not about race. It is about law. It is about people who enter our country because they can't show that they:
1) Aren't criminals
2) Have a useful skill to work in
3) Are willing to learn a bit about our government and history before they start voting
4) pledge their allegence to our country
And there are actually people that want to allow:
1) criminals
2) people with no skills
3) people who care nothing for our country or its government
4) people who won't pledge allegence to our country because they have prior allegences against us.
Not in my country. And as someone of both European and First American heritage, particularly the latter, I'd say I have some say in the matter, my ancestors being here before any of them?

Being anti-illegal is not being racist however there are those that have white power, call them wet-backs and other derogatory names to prove a point. That is the racist part, However that is true on both sides. Hatred begets hatred.

Do you think the border issue is about race? It isn't, honestly. I doubt no matter how hard you look, you'll find a pro-border fence speaker that's got it in for mexicans/hispanics. This is about systematic abuses of our social services, our legal system, ID theft, all the wonderful rackets that Mexico's been running against the United States and its' citizens for years. Nice try throwing the race card, but I'll bet you'll find more than one legal immigrant from Mexico to the United States who's equally tired of all of this!
Border fence NOW, Mexico go home! Thanks!

I've found in my experience that it's the people who are against new immigration reform, point the finger and blame all the problems of the world on the white culture. That's what ignorant people do on both sides of the issue. Good luck and have a nice day.

The question makes conclusions that aren't true or proven, nor does anyone think that anti-illegals are racist. So, the question tests the understanding of the question by the asker.
